You guys are missing the most important part: it's a one year deal. He doesn't have time to corrupt anything with a one year contract.

Excellent move by Buffalo. I can't wait to pick up my season tickets now.

I hate Owens, but this guy is right.
This is pretty much a no-lose situation for the Bills ... or Owens, for that matter.
He does great - everyone benefits. He sucks - who cares, no one was putting the Bills in the playoffs anyway.

                  T.O. isn't the party type. He's a homebody.

I was thinking the same thing.
I really don't think Owens will care about Buffalo.
All he wants is a mic in front of him and Edwards to throw to him 10-12 times a game.

One year is plenty of time to muck up the works. Given that he might only be with the team one year, he may have even less patience and restraint before he starts screaming at his offensive coordinator and thrashing his quarterback in the media.

I honestly like Owens as a player... but you can't ignore what he does on every team he's played for. He's three out of three so far. Expecting him to not cause problems in Buffalo because he's only going to be there for one season - possibly - is being naive.

everybody can hate on T.O.as much as you want, i don't even like buffalo...but still..."who is their QB"????? thats a idiotic statement, i would EASILY place Edwards, WHEN HEALTHY in the top 15-20 QB's at the very least he had a great start, and then nagging injuries ruined that, get off your home teams dick, and realize talent and that this is a smart move by buffalo, make a splash, sell tickets, progress Edwards, and with the start they had if they can finish, they are a force to be reckoned with.

Even if he causes trouble, who cares? This is a 7-9 team on its way to another 7-9 season before the Owens signing.
                          Now it's a 7-9 team that could go 11-5, 12-4 or 5-11, 4-12.
I hate Owens, but I'm willing to take that risk ... especially for $6.5M.

Any team that brings drama upon itself and takes the spotlight from Detroit's awfulness, is ok by me.
                            Big difference.
The Eagles were an elite team with no market pressures (in terms of attendance).

The Bills are a subpar team with diminished market interest. Owens is a fag, no doubt, but he makes them more interesting. And that one-year deal is a no risk thing, IMO.

Again, I know TO is a homo, but the guy does produce.
The year he was with the Birds, he produced.
Most of his Niner years he produced.
For the most part, he was a productive Cowboy.

IMO, the Bills have pretty much nothing to lose.

If he fails, they're still a non-playoff team.
If he succeeds, they're in the playoffs and get a lot of ticket revenue.

I know what you're saying, but the difference between a 7-9 team and a 9-7 team is very minimal. A few players getting better, a few breaks going your way, and that mediocre team can become a playoff team. You can't count on that obviously, but neither can you assume that a team will be unable to improve on its record. So while being a one-year deal significantly reduces the risk involved with signing Owens, I don't think you can say it won't carry any risk. If he manages to detract from their season with his antics, its still having an affect.
