Lions signed cornerback Jacob Lacey, defensive end Everette Brown and fullback James Bryant.

Anyone know anything about these guys?

        Niners sign Brandon Jacobs.

        Best of luck.

He seems like a good fit behind their OL.

Everette Brown is the DE the Panthers traded a future first round pick to trade up and select in the second round I believe. So essentially he was a first round pick for the Panthers. Everette Brown = Bust.

Probably a good signing for Detroit though given their depth and how they were able to somewhat revitalize Lawrence Jacksons career.

I like the trade. We needed a third back and Goodson is talented.

I don't think the Panthers will trade Jonathan Stewart after this.

Panthers sign former 49ers safety Reggie Smith

Former 49ers safety Reggie Smith was included in the PFT Hot 100 largely because he looked like a promising prospect coming out of Oklahoma in 2008.

I'm not gunna lie, I am beyond ecstatic at this offseason so far. I've always been the first to beg for big splashes in FA, but Rivera and co are doing this right. The weakest link on the defense (Sherrod Martin) is going to lose his job now. Special teams is incredibly improved, depth is there, and all without breaking the bank. Young offensive lineman in Bruce Campbell and resigned depth and players everywhere. It LOOKS to me like the Panthers are gearing up for a WR then CB in the draft, or vice versa in the first two rounds to finish tidying up the roster. I believe Reggie Smith is a starter and alongside Godfrey is 10x what we had with Martin and Godfrey, if not Reggie SMith, Tolbert, Nakamura, Onatolu will improve ST by a mile. Considering who has left and who has been added to the roster this is going pretty well.

If they don't give Terence Newman any guaranteed money I like the signing and seeing as it was a 1 year deal so that probably is so. He did only allow 3 td's while picking off 4 passes.

Dont let that fool you. He relied on his speed to make up for his poor technique and now that hes old and not as fast, hes just crap.

Correct about the speed angle and how he used it to overcome technique. He actually still has the speed, when healthy.

He's just never healthy anymore. His body's always been wound too tight.

It's still a low risk signing so I like it.
