He'll be a decoy. They're just going to have him run go routes all game to stretch the field and open up things for Vernon, Crab, and the run game.

Smith will chuck up a few deep balls to him every game just to keep the D honest. If he can pull in a 40+ yard pass every couple of games then the D will have to respect him and it'll help the Niners.

We'll see if he can live through that, though.

Color me someone who likes the deal. Moss is walks off the street as the best WR on the team. I'm sure it'll be similar to the Edwards deal where if he screws up, he'll be released with not much impact on our cap. I still hope, and i'm sure it wont, change what we do in FA and/or draft.

We had the 29th ranked passing offense last season...Moss can't make it worse.

Great move by the Niners. A motivated Randy Moss will produce.
For all the people bashing Alex Smith, the guy got it done last year. OK, he's not perfect, but Smith is good enough.
The Niners brought in a potentially elite WR with size and breakaway speed on the cheap, and a very motivating contract.

thats not a compliment to moss.

he'll be cut by the regular season. Moss is done. made 0 impact last year, no reason to beleive a few ustream videos is going to change that.

The only reason I'm thinking this is going to work, is that Moss doesn't have to be the fastest WR to be a tall target in the redzone. Even an old Randy could cover more ground in the endzone than anybody the niners have right now. The WRs were just terrible in the redzone last year getting open, and Smith threw more balls away then I think I've ever seen any QB throw because he was just never confident with anybody come touchdown time. Now I don't know if Moss is going to be as explosive or productive even at getting the niners down field at this point of his career, but they don't need that. The niners need a 6'4 WR that can catch in traffic at the back of the endzone, and Moss can do that all day.

Doesn't the 49ers offense consist of the power run, WRs running crossing routes and dinking and dunking down the field? Even when younger and somewhat motivated that type of offense would piss Moss off. I don't understand the support for this move. The only way for Moss to be successful is when he's involved in the offense, which is just deep balls of which he’ll maybe get 2-3 per game......Moss isn't going to be blocking for Gore or running crossing routes and he isn't going to like being a decoy.....he's going to become disinterested and quit on the team….. as he has on every team he's ever been on. His only savings grace is Harbaugh, but IDK, because Harbaugh won’t put up with him being lackadaisical and apathetic.

Harbaugh going into some madden type cheese, run, run, run, play action, Davis running a seam route and Randy on the fly, auto TD

I'll move on when everyone else does which shouldn't be too long after he gets cut before the season is over.
