Santonio Holmes had one really good season and that was it before he ws traded. And Lloyd has pretty much sucked his entire career.

I think comparing values of Marshall to Holmes/Llyod is off.

If Marshall is better than those guys, it isnt by much. They are all different kinds of receivers, but all essentially similar in the pantheon of current NFL WR's.

The point here, is WR's traditionally do not have great trade value, and two third round picks is a very good return for a guy who is clearly a step below elite and brings a certain amount of baggage. Miami did fine.
Taking a quick glance, Brandon Lloyd has more yards, more TD's, and a much higher yards per catch average than Marshall over the last two seasons.

You can make a solid case that Lloyd is the better player.

Bears might have overpaid, the more I think about it. Still a good move for both sides, anyone who thinks Miami got raped is lost and has no clue.

The past two years, Lloyd is the better player. But what the fuck do I know, I only watched/followed Marshall through every single game the last 2 years with high hopes of him being a "beast" for our team. Clearly those who do nothing but bash Miami here know more.....

Does the fact that I couldn't care less he is gone not prove anything?

            Yeah.

People are overrating Marshall a bit, and don't understand the trade value WR's carry.

Marshall is not a difference maker, never has been.

What type of offense were they in and who were the QB's? IMO when looking at WR stats you have to take everything into account.

I'd like to see Lloy'd numbers had Tebow been his QB all season.

Miami gave up two 2nd round picks to get Marshall, why doesnt that factor into your WR trade value chart?

The Broncos were morons for giving away Lloyd, one stupid trade doesnt make another trade good.

The point here is there is not much difference in the players, and saying that Lloyd can not be compared to Marshall (same for Holmes) is way off base. They are all similar.

If Marshall is better, it isnt by much. Lloyd does certain things better than Marshall (MUCH better hands, better deep threat), and has put up better numbers. It's closer than people think.

                      And what did Holmes net?

How about Moss from Oakland to NE?

WR trade value is never that good. Miami did fine with this. Marshall is overrated anyway.

The rumor now is that Peyton told the Dolphins he doesn't want to play with Marshall.

If true, that should tell you all you need to know about Marshall right there.

I'll give you that the past two seasons they've pretty much have had the same impact, but IMO Marshall when right is the far better player. I've like Lloyd for several years and always thought he was underrated....he probably has the best hands in the game. However, when Marshall is right he's on that second tier of great WRs.

Again, you keep referencing stupid trades, as if one dumb trade makes another good.

Ted Ginn was also traded for a 5th round pick, does that mean Ginn is equally valuable as Holmes & Lloyd? Of course not, because comparing trades is stupid.

That's the easiest rumour to make up in this situation TBH. I'd want a real quote before I'd buy into that.
