In terms of pure physical talent, TP might be one of the most talented players I've ever seen, if not THE most. He stands at 6-6 240, has a cannon for an arm, and ran a 4.33 electronically timed 40 (For comparison sake, Cam Newton ran a 4.590.

His struggles came from trouble reading defenses, accuracy and touch issues, and also poor footwork. He definitely was progressing throughout his college career inspite of having a VCR technician for a QB coach, and was setting himself up for a special senior season.

I'm just trying to figure out how someone so talented, from a big name college, that probably would have been a 1st round pick had he not been suspended, is going to be playing behind Matt Leinart.

I don't think he would've been a first round pick... maybe latter half of it, but that's with a big senior season.

Terrelle Pryor was never going to be a 1st round pick. You're incredibly delusional.

The Raiders took DHB with a 1st round pick. Pryor ran under 4.4, thats a 1st round pick in the Raiders book. I honestly don't believe he would have been a top 10 pick, but a team desperate enough would have reached for him. Everyone loves a underdog story. How much bigger of an underdog story could you get?

Bottom line is that if Palmer goes down then Leinart is going in. Say it's late in the season and they are in playoff contention, they would put the veteran over the kid who hasn't played a down yet. That's how it is.

The league actually thought of DHB as a first round pick. I remember when he was being mocked to teams like the Ravens and Bucs.

People thought the Raiders would take Bruce Campbell in the top 10, they drafted him in the fourth round. People thought the Raiders would take Taylor Mays in the top 10, The Raiders passed him up not once but twice.

Just because you think he's the prototypical height-weight-speed Raiders pick doesn't mean it would actually have happened.

The Raiders reached using a 3rd round pick on him, I think the earliest anyone else bid was a 5th round pick. The league didn't and still doesn't think that highly of him.

And underdog stories don't get you drafted in the first round. Not even sure why you included that in your post.

The underdog comment was more from a fan perspective, not executive. Think ESPN not front office.

Just FWIW... prior to tat-gate hitting the airwaves (aka December of Terrelle's junior year) front office officials from multiple teams were telling him that he was a 2nd-3rd round talent.

Physically he's probably as talented as anyone.

I agree. It's all mental for the kid.
