Eagles acquire DeMeco Ryans from Texans

@McClain_on_NFL: Texans are trading MLB DeMeco Ryans to Eagles for undisclosed draft choice. The trade is contingent on Ryans' passing a physical Wednesday.

Damn, is he really that expendable to Houston? I know his play has dropped off a bit, but he is still good.

Large contact and isn't as fast as he once was, thought it was a fair trade for both sides.

        A 4th round pick though?

Maybe I value players more then they are actually worth.

I still feel he's a very good LB.

Bullshit how the Eagles are constantly able to do these lopsided trades.

I really feel that draft picks are what is overvalued in trades. Yes, you can get a really good player in that fourth round if you make a good pick, but the chances you make that pick are much worse than the chances that DeMeco Ryans gets back into form.

Hurts me to say it, but great trade by the Eagles.

In 2010 he only played 6 games and had 10 less tackles then he had this season, in which he stared all 16.

Wasn't much of a factor in our new defense.

While i started to think the same thing, i then thought about how they havent really won shit.

I was just about to ask Houston fans how his play has been. Knew he was a terror early, but then haven heard shit since.....

Maybe a switch back to the 4-3 will be a good thing. But Ryans value was down due to a down year and the injury before, and his contract as well. This is a great deal for the Eagles though, as it involves little risk for them and gives them a (potential) top player at their biggest position of need.

Killer trade for the Eagles. They needed a good LB, and Ryans is still well above average in a 4-3. He had a down year, but it happens. Especially after injury. I have little doubt that his play will be back up in the future. He was never a big speed guy anyway. He reads plays very well, which helps him be ahead of the slow-down curve. That's why guys lie Lewis and Brooks played well in their later seasons.

Ryan's didn't look as effective in the 3-4 as he did in the 4-3. Good trade for the Eagles.

One factor that some of you aren't looking at is the Texans get a draft pick, along with a nice amount of cap space. Decent value, but the Eagles won in this trade.

Wow, still in shock over the trade. Biggest LB FA acquistion since Carlos Emmons

We've won more than most teams during Reid's era. Cool story though..
