yes its a contradiction....same as Tom Jacksons comments. But what they mean is that they want to hurt them, but they are not trying to hurt them

they are not going out of their way to try and injure someone, but through the course of action, if someone gets injured....then thats great

thats why this bounty thing is so stupid. the NFL is punishing the saints because they paid players to try and injure the other teams stars. And thats fine, they are guilty and what they did was wrong and they are being punished...so be it.

my whole issue is that every team does this, they just dont pay players to do it. the saints could have just as easily not paid players and just said, i want every one of you to focus on knocking so and so out of the game.

players dont have to hit hard, they can make tackles without unleashing devastating hits. The choose to hit hard because that is how the game was meant to be played and how players have been coached since pee wee football

people like FT say its wrong and shouldnt be allowed. Well the NFL agrees with you. thats why you have this pussy era that will carry us for the next 10-20 years.

A shitty junior college called West Valley in Saratoga, CA. Nothing special. I only played 1 year before hanging em up.

Highlight of JC football was playing CCSF which was always the top ranked junior college in the nation. Those mfers wanted to murder us and they basically did, beating us like 54-6 and injuring several of our players.

It's surprising to me that you guys never played against a team that made it clear that they wanted to hurt you and would talk shit to you after hurting you or your teammate. That was common when I played, even in high school.

Either their logic is flawed, or your argument is.
Obviously the players logic is whats flawed.

The bounties were also for big hits. So are you seriously going to make the case that players wouldnt be motivated to make big hits if it wasnt for the measly bounties? That would be incredibly retarded.

So you're seriously going to think that players weren't motivated to injure specific players because of the bounties?

As equally retarded..as usual for you.

You seriously don't think players were more motivated to make "big hits" when there was money attached to them? If they weren't more motivated because of the bounty there would be no reason to have the bounty to begin with..b/c the bounty would serve no purpose. The bounties obviously served a purpose and worked if the entire Saints team not only bought into it...but tried to hide it. If there is nothing "wrong" about a bounty program and it doesn't serve to add any real motivation the Saints or a player would come out and say it be like "no big fucking deal"...but that's not happening because players know it works, know it influences them, and know why it's illegal.

BRB gonna go watch NFL games where when player is laying motionless on ground other team rather than praying is jumping around and making it rain on the player who made the hit.

I posted several videos in the bounty thread that showed players celebrating while a guy lays on the field out cold.

Houston tried to tell me that people don't like watching guys get hurt, the video I posted had 13 million views. It was Junior Rosegreen if Auburn knocking Reggie Brown out cold and then stomping around afterward like a lion that just killed his pray while his entire sideline celebrates.

I'm sure after all that they took a knee and prayed though! L O L

Stick to running marathons and non contact sports because you obviously have no fucking clue about how violent football is or what type if athlete the sport breeds.

Yeah because we have NEVER seen that!

I don't think anyone said big hits weren't a part of football or didn;t occur but when you basically start a program that makes people head hunt for them and make the game more dangerous than it has to be...it becomes and issue and turns into bounties for oh I don't know..."cart offs" and "injuries"

Your brain has been scrambled or you've been posting drunk for weeks. I hope it's the latter.

I played football in HS derp derp. Quit playing bc of various knee/ankle injuries that came from playing basketball as well.

I seriously think money has little to no effect on big hits. On intent to injure, that is a different story and not what you said here.

Glory > money. These guys have plenty of money. They want to make big hits to change the pace of the game, to get their teammates and the crowd fired up, to be on Sportscenter later that night.

You really think that when the ball is in the air a player is thinking about the incentive tied to the play he can make? You really think they have time to think or even remember about that?

The players and coaches in an NFL locker room obviously disagree because they had the program to reward specifically for them.

Yes, because when the ball is in the air now due to a lot of the rules you can see players pulling off from killshots that happened prior to the new rules about player safety being instituted. Players say it influences the way they play the game. Same holds true for bounties.

                      Please STFU.

I can't believe it's such a difficult concept to grasp. I also can't believe the Saints needed a bounty program for their defense to want to hurt people. I'm with Tailback U, I've played in games both in rugby and football with and against dudes who wanted to hurt people and they were completely meaningless games. You put money, pride, and a championship in the mix and this doesn't shock me at all.

For all of you shocked and appalled at the nature of men in the NFL who want to hurt people when they step on the field, you've probably never seen aggression carried out in a way that shocked you. I remember the first rugby practice I attended, it was an indoor conditioning practice. All of a sudden the passing game we were playing turned into hardcore rucking and mauling. Guys turned into animals and were going full bore on a hard gym floor. That was a holy fuck moment for me. I then realized there were people in the world who could turn off normal rationalization and just become something else. To a point, I had that ability too. The reason I say that is that I think the NFL is full of guys like this. That they need a bounty program to become this way seems ridiculous.

It's really funny how some of these guys are arguing with us about the mentality that a lot of players have.

The fact that 22-27 Saints players took part in the bounty program and that dozens of former and current players have come out and said that thus shit happens all the time since the beginning if time tells you everything you need to know about the mental capacity of these guys! Think about it.

Severely injured my ankle Jr year basketball. Gave up football to start running distance. Stuck with basketball for one more season in my senior year as I had been playing it longer.
