I understand what youre saying, but youll have to admit that someone is doing something right somewhere no?

I mean 19 return TDs is a pretty good return.

I believe if he focused solely on returning he can return to that form. There is no reason to use him as a receiver, slot or starter, decoy or not. Everything he is capable of as a receiver is easily replaceable.
He had 2 in his first 2 seasons. Then only 1 KO return in the past 4 seasons. The new KO rules fucked his shit up last season. He he just is not as good at it for some reason now.

You are right about the reciever, however the future of Jonny Knox is in doubt, and he will be told to do nothing but run straight, and his speed is not easily replaced.

His production as a returner dipped because he was just getting worn out. He wasn't returning as well because he was playing offense. Not because he just suddenly fell off the wagon.

And you don't just put someone at receiver because they're fast. You can pick any number of players off the street or in the draft for running straight or because they're fast.

We can call it fatigue, but only his KO returns fell off. He was on a slump in PR, but came out of it and was almost back to his full self.

And sure, you can pick anyone, but I think youre assuming that Devin is a good WR. He is not, he is fast.

I was assuming he's serviceable but not really too much more than that which is why I always wonder why we hear this same story every off-season. It just seems like a broken record.

His production as a punt returner has been better but I just think with more opportunities as a KR and less as a receiver he can return to similar form as 06-07 and start pulling off maybe 5-6 return td's a season and be the most feared return man in the league. I just don't think they're benefiting at all by putting him as a receiver.

Besides aren't the Bears going to a more run oriented attack with Mike Tice as the OC anyways?

Youre definitely right that it doesnt benefit them, but Lovie sees Devin scoring touchdowns and wants more and more and more. That is his issue. Thats why this keeps coming up.

As for the offense, it will probably look similar to what its looked the last two years when Martz had his balls cut off. Some what of an balanced offense. The big difference this year for me, is to see how flexible the offense will be. Martz was stubborn, and did his shit no matter what. So hopefully Tice will be alot more fluid.

The Canes tried using Hurricane Hester on offense (and D), too. His skills on either side of the ball pale in comparison to ST. He's not a good route runner or receiver. He's not a good cover CB. He's a return man. He receives the ball and runs real fast.

Let him return the fucking ball. That's what he does.

So the answer is NO Hester will not be a HOFer.
Lovie Smith is making sure of that.

The fact that this thread was made in 2012 doesn't make sense to me.
