what do you expect, the guy wanted to stay in San Diego...
whats sad is San Diego doesn't deserve to have him after that. especially when he could have gone anywhere he wanted to. they should be thankful he obviously has a deep commitment to the franchise and isn't playing for money.Comment

I don't think it's about money at this stage of his career - he's probably got 50 million in the bank.Comment

He's probably earning about $4 million next season.. He could've gotten more than that with at least half the teams in the league. I think he wants to be a one team guy for his career, he also knows he has a shot at a superbowl with the Bolts, and he's already living in San Diego.

The contract he signed keeps his 2009 NFL Season salary the same but reduces his salary in 2010 and 2011.
Originally posted by RotoworldLT2 approved the deal Tuesday night with the backing of club president Dean Spanos. Part of his '09 salary was converted to a "signing bonus" to save cap room, meaning LT put his ego aside and will make a less salary than Darren Sproles. He'll still get the full $6.725M, however. Tomlinson's 2010-2011 salaries are reduced, but he can earn the money back via incentives. LT will be in more of a timeshare in 2009, but he'll keep goal-line duties and could be undervalued in fantasy drafts. Sproles will only steal work inside the 20s.Last edited by Aso; 03-11-2009, 08:25 AM.Comment

Originally posted by HaleYesThough I am not a Chargers fan, I watched every Chargers game last season for fantasy purposes on the Sunday Ticket. What I saw wasnt a diminished running back. I saw a line that couldnt block (he was hit in the backfield countless number of times) and a badly injured turf toe that was affecting he ability to cut (hes a scat back, this is important)
Saying he isnt the same running back just isnt true.Comment

You think he'll pull a Barry Sanders? I think he is on pace to break Emmitt Smith's record and i think he'll play until he breaks it.
The Record is 18,355
Tomlinson currently has 11,760
He is 29 and 9 years in turning 30 very soon. If he plays 6 more seasons i think the record is his.Last edited by Aso; 03-11-2009, 05:14 PM.Comment

2007 he had 1480 yards with 15 touchdowns. 475 recieving yards with 3 touchdowns.
2008 he still had solid numbers - 1110 yards with 11 touchdowns. 425 recieving yards with 1 touchdown.
Sure, he's not in his prime anymore.. But do you really think that isn't worth $4 million a year, looking at other salaries around the league?
He's had one down year and everyone is saying his pay should be cut, no team would be interested, etc. etc.
He had injuries, oline played poor, and more emphasis was on the passing game - I'm giving him at least one more season.Comment

On top of all that Norv Turner is still your HC which gives you exactly 0% chance at winning the Super Bowl.
#1 - Playoffs 4 out of the last 5 years.
#2 - Their biggest competition in their division is a team with a rookie head coach, a loser quarterback who had a cry when he thought he might be traded, a starting reciever who can't stop getting arrested, a bottom 5 defense and 8 different halfbacks that can't carry the ball 4 times without getting injured.
sidenote: We've got Jackson who is good enough to be #1.
Jackson finished with 1100yards on 59 catches - average of 18.6.
Antonio Gates has missed exactly 1 game due to injury his entire career.Comment
