RIP Jr. One of my favorite players of all time. Every time the Raiders played the Chargers I couldn't help but love watching Seau.
uhhhhh, bounty gate and CTEs aren't just about those getting hit, it's equally relevant to the safety and integrity of those providing the hits. Most just choose to think about the receiver though. Of those who have committed suicide so far, what do most have in common?

Nobody is talking about how hits to the head aren't dangerous. What is wrong with you idiots?

Junior Seau has nothing to do with the bounty program whatsoever, why are you even bringing that garbage into this thread? You fucking idiots want to turn this tragedy into another dumb ass 15 page thread about how hard hits happen in football?

you are right, we'd be much better served spending 15 pages reading/replying to a worthless thread about getting a vasectomy/vasectomy-reversal, simply because someone was bored.

          You win. You done?

          Thanks.

          Now, back on topic.

I hate to speculate, but part of me thinks there is no way that Seau didn't take steroids. For the guy to play linebacker for that long the way he did and look like he did, I can't help but speculate.

The fact that you don't see how this all ties in to the disgusting behavior of the Saints, and the dopes who downplayed it, speaks volumes.

A damn shame...between Football, Hockey, and Pro Wrestling, there is enough material to do research on concussions, brain trauma, and abuse to the body to last a lifetime...

Beating the shit out of your body, especially with countless hits to the head will bring you down.

Need more awareness for these athletes after their careers to their loved ones...those are truly the people that need to be first responders in all of this. You gotta know when your people around you are going down a road they'll need help getting off of.

At what point did too much equipment become a detriment to the game of football?

Man, sad news, pretty shocked. He always seemed like the happiest guy in the world when he was playing. I hope that all the hits he delivered in his playing days weren't the cause for this because I was always excited to see him deliver one.

So let's bring up Greg Williams and the Saints any time a helmet to helmet hit happens or someone gets a concussion. Let's just keep talking about it forever because it is linked to every single concussion and every single helmet to helmet hit past or present.

Earl Campbell uses a walker these days, all because of that piece of scum Greg Williams and the disgusting behavior of the Saints.

This is kinda the wierd part too:

On May 2, 2011 researcher neurologists at Boston University confirmed that he suffered from a neurodegenerative disease linked to concussions
So coincidence he did it on may 2 this year and with the same sort of death.

                        Leafs offseason training!

So, don't bring up his name with bounties to tarnish his image, but go ahead and speculate that he was on steroids? Can't have it both ways...

No, I will bring up Gregg Williams and the Saints every time there is new evidence of head injuries being a terrible, terrible thing, because there are people here who downplayed what the Saints were doing based on macho bullshit, and some antiquated 1960's vision of football being MURDER DEATH KILL at all costs.

There were people here (and elsewhere) who listened to Gregg Williams on tape telling his players to go for KILL SHOTS TO THE HEAD (for money!), and concluded this was perfectly fine behavior, because hey, "it's an NFL locker room, and it's a man's game".

How many players need to blow holes through their chests like Dave Duerson and Junior Seau did before we wake up and stop complaining about stuff like "pussified rules changes"? It's like I said when the Saints story broke, Williams & Payton should never coach again. Goodell got it half right.

After a long discussion with a friend today in lieu of Seau, I think I'm firmly behind the idea the game needs to go backward...not develop pussified rules in lieu of new equipment that continues to enable the big hits.

I would think, of all people, W2B, you'd "get" this concussion thing considering how wide spread the world of Pro Wrestling is with shit like this...not just concussion, but the lifestyle that is lead with these "types"...the NFL just received their "Christ Benoit" so to speak with Seau. Monster name. Large reach.

You think a player is going to crack a wide out coming over the middle, helmet to helmet when ol boy ain't got a helmet on? Hell no. Ol boy is going to wrap tackle him up.

The equipment they are wearing today is like a damn super soldier outfit with padding throughout the entire body. Yet, the brain still can not handle the ridiculous trauma that comes with hits. Its like the egg in a basket experiment we all did in high school trying not to make the egg break in a box full of cotton balls and rubber bands. There is a time in the NFL where with the advanced equipment + the advanced player development + the superior athletes playing the sport where it became too dangerous for itself. It was no longer an Americanized version of Rugby, it was a game where players were so advanced and the equipment so advanced, it turned itself into a video game.

Steve Young may have said it best a while ago when he said...everyone knows the inherent risks that come with the game...he has a lot of issues post-retirement...he just hopes he doesn't go down the same road as Duerson.
