Rolando McClain sentenced to 180 days in jail

The day started off with bad news for Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain and it is ending the same way.

The day started off with bad news for Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain and it is ending the same way.

McClain was found guilty on all charges in the trial stemming from his December assault on an Alabama man and Michael Casagrande of the Decatur Daily reports that he has been sentenced to 180 days in jail as a result. McClain had been charged with third-degree assault, reckless endangerment, menacing, and unlawful discharge of a firearm, all of which are misdemeanor charges and McClain was sentenced to 45 days in jail for each charge.

Jaradious Willingham, McClain’s co-defendant, pleaded guilty to third-degree assault on Thursday morning and agreed to testify against McClain. He received 90 days in jail as a result of his plea bargain.

There’s no word yet on when McClain, who was released on bond, will have to serve the sentence. If he’d not able to delay it until after the season, the Raiders will have to make plans for proceeding without one of their starting linebackers. McClain may also face further discipline from the NFL as a result of the case.

That's 6 months....I assume he's going to miss the entire season. His best bet is to try and delay it until January.

But the Super Bowl is in February. He could miss the Raiders' Super Bowl run!

Unless Goodell decides to suspend him for some games. Can't imagine he likes that one of his players is facing six months of jail time.

From what I've heard we've got an injury proned backup. I'm sure we'll sign someone though, we have to.
