Broncos offer Clady $50 million extension

The Denver Broncos want to sign All-Pro left tackle Ryan Clady to a long-term deal before the start of training camp, and toward that end, they offered Clady a five-year, $50 million extension, the Denver Post reported.

About $28 million of the salary would be guaranteed, according to the report, and the average annual salary of $10 million would represent a sizable raise from the $3.5 million he is scheduled to earn in 2012 in the final year of his current contract.

The $50 million deal also would make Clady one of the five highest paid offensive linemen in the NFL, based on annual salary.

Clady has started all 66 regular-season and playoff games during his career and has missed just 15 regular-season snaps during his four-year NFL career.

Named All-Pro as a rookie, Clady was named to the Pro Bowl in 2009 and 2011.

He has taken a step back from his stellar rookie season and has already gotten hurt once playing basketball in the off-season. Hopefully with Manning back there he will be able to get back to some of what he showed as a rookie now that he won't have to hold his blocks for 5-7 seconds every drop back.
