Texas A&M FB no longer Aggies

Texas A&M has already had a rough start in the SEC, and this isn't a sign that things are getting better.

SECstore.com is slinging an "Adidas Texas A&M Aggies 2012 Coaches Sideline Performance Flex Hat - Maroon" for a reasonable $19.95, but, as the promotional copy would tell you, it's not as simple as it seems:

You've always thought you would have been a great coach-particularly for the Texas A&M Aggies. Just because you didn't end up in that line of work doesn't mean that you can't still imagine calling plays for your favorite team when you go to the next game. Do it in official Aggies style with the 2012 Coaches Sideline flex hat from adidas. Featuring an embroidered school wordmark on the crown, embroidered "Bulldogs Football" lettering at the back and ClimaLITE fabric that conducts heat and sweat away from the body to keep you comfortable on warm game days, this cap will ensure that you're dry and cool while you strategize about TAMU's next move. Don't be surprised when players and fans congratulate you after a win because this is the same hat the Aggies coaches will sport on the sideline this season!

So. The SEC store knows that TAMU is the Aggies. But the hat still says "Bulldogs." Maybe it thinks that the Aggie is a type of bulldog. I suppose that's a possibility, even though the Aggie isn't a type of bulldog. Also, Texas A&M's official mascot is a dog, although definitely not a bulldog. Maybe, too, this could just be a website glitch.

But we hope it's no error, that the SEC just has A&M on probation, that they have to wear hats with another team's name until they've proved they deserve to be mentioned with the big boys. These things'll roll off the line u

It's pretty obvious that they just confused the maroon and white colors with the Mississippi State Bulldogs hat

Another generic name for a football team wont hurt.

Blame adidas, who is using the exact same uniform template for both this season. They probably just forgot which .psd file they had open when they added the team name layer in there.

          In other words ...

Two second-rate programs are using generic templates from the same apparel manufacturing conglomerate, and the apparel manufacturing conglomerate can't be bothered to tell them apart. Because why should they? Unimportant clients are unimportant.
