After he recapped that his Grandmother and Aunt died horribly, he mentioned that he had a gun pointed at his head.

The guy pointing the gun (maybe the Father, dunno), pulled the trigger SEVEN times, each misfiring with no shot.

When the guy shot an eight time, away from Martin's head, the gun went off.

Nothing wrong with talking about an abusive parent and how it shaped him. It is another to go into detail about how your father would punish your mother using scalding water, cigarettes and burning her hair.

Is it though? I mean, I get what you're saying, but don't you think it's entirely possible that those experiences helped Martin excel? That is the impression that I got. He went through hell and it taught him to never take anything for granted. I imagine living through it was significantly more inappropriate than just having to hear about it for a few minutes.
