Esiason to Jets: Cut Tim Tebow

We told you he knew how to create buzz. Forget Mike Francesa, Craig Carton, et al. It's ex-NY Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason who returns from vacation to the Boomer & Carton radio program with a message for the NYJ: Cut Tim Tebow.

“I’m just telling you right now, I would (cut him), and I’ll tell you why I would,” Esiason said. “It’s not in any way, shape or form — I think — benefiting this team.”

“I just think this whole thing — at least from my perspective right now in relation to who Mark Sanchez is, your starting quarterback — is a major mistake,” Esiason said.

“All you have to do is watch him throw the ball,” said Esiason. “Just watch him.”

“You can say whatever you want about Tim Tebow,” said Esiason. “He played some of the worst football that any quarterback has ever played in the history of the game last year at times.”

the man has a point. i like tebow and think he brings a special element to the game. i loved watching his late game heroics last year. But lets face it, he was a terrible QB. idk what the jets were thinking...its not like they need a big name to sell tickets....so what purpose does it serve to have another reason for people to hate on Mark Sanchez

sanchez is the starter. So when he struggles, fans, media and all the haters will scream for tim tebow. then the jets will have the drama...which seems to be what they are about these days under ryan.

i guess as a non jets fan this is a good thing for the other teams in the AFC

I love all these people saying Sanchez is such a delicate flower that any possibility of him being benched would destroy him...if he's that damn mentally fragile, he shouldn't be a QB in the NFL.

Tim Tebow went 8-5 last year, including a playoff win. Shut up Boomer.

trent dilfer won a SB....but i see mcstl25 point. Tebow should have went to a team that needed a QB...not a team like the Jets. you either have to be behind your starter, or not...and the jets clearly are not. So all they have is a brewing QB controversy

This is such stupid logic and I'm tired of seeing it. Might as well make Dan Orlovsky your starter then right since any bad qb can win a super bowl right?

Who cares about how bad a qb is because Trent Dilfer was able to win one!

I think it'd cause a bigger shitstorm if the Jets cut Tebow.

They had no business in acquiring him.

Both Tannenbaum and Ryan should be canned after this season, as well as cutting Sanchez, Greene, and Holmes. Blow the offense up.

Biggest misconception is the Jets aren't behind Sanchez, trust and believe they are...and all the experts will tell you so.

why is there even a discussion ? why are you taking the bait ?

Look..Boomer might actually mean what he says..but he is media now..you are expected to say inflammatory stuff.

Dont you get it ? Media is the ultimate troll..its what they do. Its the media, not the Jets saying anything about Sanchez and job security.
Its evident at this point to me that the Jets are trying a college type system.

Sanchez will start and do work between the 20's..but under certain situations in the redzone, its "WildCat time" and thats Tebow's turf. Its the ex Miami coaches idea. Its that simple.

Tim Tebow is an upgrade on Sanchez. So no, don't cut him.

The only viable spot for Tebow is Jacksonville. He'd be worshipped, fan attendance would increase and ESPN would refuse to go to the swamp, thus no Tebow on Sportscenter.
