Trying to call him a top 15 quarterback when he hasn't played a game in the NFL is absolutely laughable. I don't care how good he's looked in preseason, how great he was in college, how hyped he was coming into the NFL draft, how many people say he's a can't miss prospect, etc. etc. he still hasn't seen an NFL defense yet. Preseason is a joke, and Colts fans of all people should know that - going 0-4 then winning a Super Bowl a few years back.

I will take Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Andy Dalton, Jay Cuntler, Joe Flacco, Matt Schaub, Cam Newton, Mike Vick, Matt Ryan, Tony Romo, Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning, Matt Stafford, Ben Roethlisberger, and Eli Manning over Andrew Luck to start on my team next season without a second thought. Why? Because I know what I'm getting (aside from with Peyton Manning, but still), they don't need to adjust to the NFL and are more experienced. There's no sure thing in the NFL and just because we saw last year rookie quarterbacks tearing shit up with Cam Newton and Andy Dalton doesn't mean we will this year with Andrew Luck.

And before anybody comes after me, I think Andrew Luck will be a successful and has the tools to be an all-time great, but I'm not going to say he's a top 15 QB before he steps foot into the league.

We're not evaluating the Colt's preseason record, we're evaluating a rookie quarterback's debut to the NFL. I've watched all 3 exibition games, and Luck has looked pretty fucking impressive. You could argue that preseason games don't matter/count, or that the players don't play as hard, but everyone he has faced are professional football players. You can still evaluate him to a certain extent.

Professional football players in a meaningless game. Established starters aren't going to try and are going to play cautious. And evaluating what he did late in the game like people have been doing (started off terrible, finished with three drives for 17 points) is even worse because the opposing defense is playing guys low on the depth chart. All I am saying is you can't tell what a player, or a team, will do in the regular season based off what they do in the preseason. It's made for the NFL/teams to make more money by selling tickets at regular season prices and for coaches to decide where to put guys on the depth chart (so yes you get non-starters playing their heart out, but they also aren't starting at the time for a reason).

Not top 15, but maybe top 17. :Yao:

Yes, I would take half the NFL's starting quarterbacks over him next season.
