Texans Sign LT Duane Brown To A 6-Year, $53.4m Extension, $22.08m Guaranteed

    Rotoworld

Texans signed LT Duane Brown to a six-year, $53.4 million contract extension.

The Houston Chronicle reports the deal contains $22.08 million in guarantees.
Brown, Pro Football Focus' sixth-rated tackle and second-best left tackle in 2011, was entering the final year of his rookie contract. Brown will earn an average of $8 million annually through 2018, a bargain rate for a franchise left tackle. After the Texans allowed starters Mike Brisiel and Eric Winston to walk in the offseason, locking up Matt Schaub's blind-side protector up became a necessity. Expect Brown to be part of a top-10 offensive line once again this season.

Who replaced those two starters? I am skeptical that this line won't miss a beat after replacing 40% of the starters.

Antoine Caldwell and Rashad Butler. Caldwell is a league average guard and Butler has been a career backup swing tackle.

I know Schaub & Mario Williams were hurt last year, so losing Williams is like losing nothing at all, and Schaub is like adding a quality QB, but i'm still a bit skeptical about the Texans, who seem to be a trendy SB pick this off season.

Their history alone suggests you should be skeptical about them.
