Jets Trade OT Wayne Hunter To Rams For OT Jason Smith

Deal would send Wayne Hunter to STL for Jason Smith.

Ouch. How bad do you have to be to get dealt for Hunter?

Ultimate "your useless crap for my useless crap" move. In the cb the other day w2b was reporting that the Rams were prepared to outright release Jason Smith anyway, so he's obviously been a colossal disappointment for them.

Jason Smith has been god awful horrible. I don't know anything about Wayne Hunter, but just about anything in return for Jason Smith would be worth it.

          2011:
          Hunter:
Pass Block: Ranked 73 out of 76 tackles, graded -20.6
Run Block: Ranked 58 out of 76 tackles, graded -6.4

          Smith (6 games):
Pass Block: Ranked 42 out of 76 tackles, graded -3.2
Run Block: Ranked 34 out of 76 tackles, graded -1.5

Smith> Hunter. We win...Rams continue to collect useless Jet roster fodder.

            Love PFF ^

FWIW btw Wayne Hunter gave up 2.5 sacks in limited preseason action against the Giants...

Did not think Jason Smith would bust that bad. Usually linemen are the safest pick at the top, and at worst, you have a league-average starter.

Jason Smith will get a concussion sneezing in the locker room and will be out for the year.

Has Jason Smith really been as bad as people say? Pretty disappointing.

I saw somewhere he was the Rams 2nd best OL last year lol...not saying much but like I said, anything is better than Wayne F. Hunter

                        No.

Further proof that "advanced stats" do not work for football. Jason Smith is fucking terrible. Just the worst. Was going to be cut outright.

Only reason the Jets didn't cut bait with Hunter was the fact his money was guaranteed, but they take on Smith who's owed a bit more money.

If Smith plays in enough games, his $11 million roster bonus next year is voided. If he doesn't play in enough games, he'll be cut anyway.

Was Smith's contract part of his rookie deal?

                              Yes.

Hunter may not make the Rams roster, either. Smith was as good as gone and the Rams were looking for somebody to take him and his contract off their hands.
