    For the Redskins:

    Pros

1.) Rookies on display. RGIII and Alfred Morris both looked legit. RGIII showed great awareness, kept plays going and had a typically aggressive defense holding back. He kept extending plays and excelled on throwing to all parts of the field. Meanwhile, Morris had 96 yards on 28 carries and two TDs, first wearing down the defense and then breaking some decent runs. He keeps going after contact and gets those tough yards, and Morris showed enough to validate the coaching staff's confidence in him and they have already named him the starter next week.

2.) Receivers stepped up. Pierre Garcon had a great debut, and only played a few minutes in the game. Targeted early and often, Garcon had four catches for 109 yards, including an 88 yard TD catch where he outran the Saints secondary. When he left with a foot injury, Aldrick Robinson stepped right up with four catches for 54 yards and a TD. Six other players caught passes, and Santana Moss showed some early success in the slot.

3.) Secondary may not be a weak spot. Many thought the Redskins secondary would be a weak spot, and they performed pretty well. DeJon Gomes played extremely well Meriweather injured, and if that play keeps up, he may have one of the starting spots even when Meriweather returns. Cedric Griffen also played very well, and if he stays healthy (a huge if considering his history with injuries) the Redskins have a very good cornerback.

4.) I was upset about Graham Gano being released, but Billy Cundiff hit all four field goals and looks to be a good addition. Lets see how he holds up when he gets into a pressure situation.

5.) Offensive line played a good game against one of the better defensive lines in the league. They needed this confidence booster, especially with Lichensteiger returning from knee reconstruction and a new starter at RT.

    Cons

1.) I loved how we called the offense early on, and it seems we built off the previous series and had the Saints D on the ropes. However, late in the game, play calling on both sides got extremely conservative and this allowed the Saints to get back in the game. This can not continue to happen, as it's happened quite a bit with Shanahan when the Redskins are ahead. Keep pushing for more points, and do what you are doing to move the ball, don't change the game plan and risk losing the game. This can lose games more than anything else, and I hate seeing the Redskins letting teams back into games.

2.) The special teams unit will need some work. The first attempted punt was blocked, and with the way the FG protection team was last season, allowing five kicks to be blocked, this is not a good sign. I hope this doesn't continue, and I still believe in Danny Smith, but if it does, this could be his last season in Washington.

3.) Backup running backs need to produce. Even with the starter, Shanahan likes to change his backs up. Helu had one catch for 21 yards, but the rest of his catches and his two rushing attempts didn't even produce 10 total yards. Evan Royster had two rushes for 10 yards, but that was the extent of his playing time. Injuries have not helped Helu (both Achilles) or Royster (knee) but the bottom line is that the rest of the roster produced on offense, and one of them needs to step up going forward.

      Falcons

      Pros:

-Passing game looked good. Ryan was definitely a little swag that game. I think he could of had 400 but was blessed with short field a few times.
-Loved seeing the 2nd half adjustment, which is what this team lacked last year. You could tell someone in the locker room was doing their part.
-Julio is going to be amazing, He would of had 3 TD's on the day if Ryan didn't terribly overthrow him when he was wide open in the end zone. I guess the ball got away from Ryan, lol.

      Cons:

      -No Pass Rush
-Falcons lose Grimes for the year.
      -Running game was booty cheeks

        Pros
The 3 Rookies Lavonte David, Mark Barron and Doug Martin played their asses off and will have a major impact on the team during the season. David called all the plays on the defensive side of the ball and played like he was still in Lincoln, Nebraska suited up for the Huskers. He looked extremely comfortable. Barron was flying around all over the field and was always around the ball, he laid Steve Smith out. Martin is a shifty ass runner, a good receiver and good pass blocker. He chopped a defender down on the huge 3rd down pass to Vincent Jackson that sealed the game

Freeman made good decisions. IIRC he was 16/24 with a pedestrian amount of yards which would have been much greater had Jackson had not dropped those 2 passes. He also had 2 or 3 balls batted down but he made excellent decisions all game, didnt hold on to the ball too long and controlled the tempo. We put together a 13 play drive leading to a TD on our 1st possession where he didnt force anything and trusted his team mates to make plays. Last year he would have forced the ball down field.

Coach Shiano, awesome 1st game. Seeing the defense all rally to the ball, play their assignment and have very little mental errors is a testament to him as a head coach. The effort alone gives me hope. Shit was pitiful last year, the lack of effort got Raheem fired but it was a reflection of him and how he coached.

        Cons
No Dline depth. Couldnt really tell from this past game but Im really concerned with the depth we have our Dline. If any of our starters go down (Gerald McCoy, Clayborn and Bennett) we can be in for a world of trouble. Or if a team commits to the run and takes us into deep waters and sustains long drives we can be in trouble without a reliable rotation

We left too many points on the field. We picked off Cam twice and blocked a punt. Gave us excellent field position but settled for FGs on 2 of those drives and we punted on the other IIRC. We had drive where it was 1st and goal inside the 5 or so. We ended up running the ball twice moving the ball to the 1 yard line, ran a play action that had the fullback try to block veer out into the flats, was blown up and we settled for 3. I think we should ave ran the ball every down and took that 1 yard instead of trying to get cute. There will be teams who will kick your ass if all you manage to put up is 16 points while squandering those kind of opportunities.

          Eagles

          Pros:
          - They finally let Asoughma and Rodgers-Cromartie play to their strengths
          - Demeco Ryans isn't washed up
          - Boykin a good nickle back
          - Lesean a stud
          - It was only week 1, Vick can get cred back

          Cons:
          - Reid/Morningwheg still think passing 90% of the game the right thing to do ... even after their QB is struggling and has given up 3 INTs
          - Brandon Graham ... where are you?
          - Michael Vick - it's ok not be stupid

            Panthers

            Pros:
            - Special Teams
Joe Adams looks sharp on his returns and is going to give us great field position during the season, the coverage on punts and kickoffs weren't too shabby either considering it was a glaring weakness last year. How Stroughter held on to the ball when Thomas Davis lit him up on the 1st punt is beyond me.

            - Cam didn't totally suck
Bucs did a great job of not letting him kill them with his feet being held to 5 rushing yards but he still threw for over 300 yards and 1 of his interceptions was right off the recievers hands so in my eyes he only threw 1.

            Cons:
            - Running Game
Holy shit did we miss Jonathan Stewart...10 rushing yards all game is absolutely pathetic. When the game's leading rusher is a 4th string WR with 5 yards there's something seriously wrong. DeAngelo Williams looked great in pre-season then was non-existent this weekend.

            - Secondary
Entire secondary group played like shit, Munnerlyn was surprisingly our best corner of the game not counting his bonehead fair catch interference call at a crucial time. Tampa's recievers were wide open all game though. Made Josh Freeman's job very easy.

-Offensive line looked pretty damn good for having 3 new starters. I was real worried about the line heading into the season, they played well against one of the best Ds in the league
-BJGE looked good too when we used him. Fell behind too much late but he had a good game

                    Titans

                    PROS

Jake Locker - He is still sailing some throws, but completing over 70% of his throws was definitely not what I expected in his first start. The audible on fourth and inches from a run to the fade route for Nate Washington was worthy and the throw he made was perfect. He also learned from his mistakes through the game, despite having constant pressure throughout.
Kamerion Wimbley - There were questions of him not being able to fit the 4-3 scheme as a every-down DE, but he was okay in the run game and put constant pressure on Tom Brady.
Robert Johnson - I didn't yell at him in the secondary compared to his safety counterpart, so he gets a pass here.

                    CONS
The offensive line - Absolutely horrendous effort on both sides of the ball. Chris Johnson had nowhere to run once again throughout the game and their pass protection for Locker was the worst I've seen it in years. All-Pro Michael Roos looked overmatched against a rookie DE in Chander Jones.
Run defense - Once Colin McCarthy went down with an injury, there was huge gaps everywhere. Holes weren't being filled and there were way too many missed tackles.
Michael Griffin - So much for playing up to your new contract. Got scorched on a deep route that Brandon Lloyd thankfully dropped, took bad pursuit angles on run plays and missed some easy tackles. He has to play better in order for this defense to give the offense a break every once in a while.
Jerry Gray - No adjustments whatsoever on the defensive side of the ball. His guys just dropped into zone, rushed four and let Brady pick them apart - the complete opposite type of gameplan I saw in the pre-season.

Interesting from Jerry Gray. As a Williams disciple, one would think he would be doing far more creative things out there.

He could have game planned his ass off. They were still losing.

Not knocking the Titans, but they were facing Brady/Belichick. No gameplan wins that game for them ... especially when the Pats' D absolutely shuts down 28.

                              PROS

-Ummm...how about everything? Alex Smith picked up where he left off from last year, and really looks to be coming into his own under Harbaugh. The passing game is greatly improved with new targets like Moss and Manningham taking attention away from Crabtree and Davis. The ground game is still dominant, and we're deep at the position just in case an injury happens. The offense was extremely balanced too, with 30 runs and 32 passes...I think that's a winning formula. One-dimensional teams may be fun to watch, but a balanced offense is nearly impossible to stop. And that defense...christ, I don't know how, but I think they may be even better than last year. Patrick Willis played only sparingly, and Bowman was lights out in his absence. We baffled what might be the best QB playing right now all game long.

                              CONS

-The one that really sticks out to me is pass protection, which was an issue last year, and looks to be again this year. Alex Smith was sacked more than any other QB in 2011, and went down four times this game. Clay Matthews was a big part of that, but still, we have to protect our man better.

I look forward to seeing how we handle Suh on Sunday night.
