He was, but his career was cut short due to injury. He's basically like the LT version of Terrell Davis, minus the system, or Sterling Sharpe. It's not so much of an argument of if he was good enough to be in the HOF, he was. But if his career was long enough to merit getting in the Hall.

No doubt he will get in but will he be first ballot? That would make 4 1st Ballot HOFs this year.

Only thing hurting him is his personality. He was a loud mouth and lets not forget that "You put on a uniform" episode. Id be pretty pissed if he didnt get in 1st ballot though, he put it on film and is one of the most dominate defensive tackles in the history of the game. He would be our second player to get in. Derrick Brooks should be joining him when he is eligible as well as Ronde when he decides to hang them up. I just dont see Ronde getting in 1st ballot even though the numbers may warrant it.

Man would I love to see both Sapp and Lynch be inducted 1st ballot but I know Lynch will have to wait a while if he ever makes it at all.

Lynch could get in eventually. Ronde probably shouldn't great player in the system, great all-around CB, and has enjoyed a nice late-career revival. But he was never really the best at his position. Sapp was top 1/2 at his position, with Randle in the 90s. Lynch was usually a top 3-5 safety in people's minds. Ronde was good at his position, but at no time was he recognized as a top cover CB. And I think that holds him back. Lately he's been accumulating some HOF-worthy stats. The sacks/picks combo is pretty unheard of at CB. That will help his case, but I think he ends up slightly on the outside. I agree Lynch is no lock to ever get in either. Sapp definitely should be first-ballot. He was a total game-changer at a position where game-changers are very, very few and far between.

Im tired of hearing the "system" argument for Ronde. All you can do as a player is do what is asked of you and he did it pretty damn well his whole career. He made numerous pro bowls, was a integral part of our superbowl team and great defenses over the years, is in a class of his own with his sack/pick numbers, has had longevity over the course of his career going into his 203 consecutive game this week and has generally been a consummate professional his whole career. He surely is a HOF, may not be first ballot but he certainly belongs.

Well, regardless of you being tired of it, Ronde is going to suffer from being a CB who A) wasn't asked to man cover that often and B) wasn't that good at it. BK was known as the better man coverage player out of the two. As a CB, that's kind of a big deal.

Because hes a douche. Rice is GOAT Irvin had the big game reputation. Carter had superb HOF caliber numbers but instead of standout they seem to be lumping him in with the Herman Moore Carl Pickens WRs of that era....oh but mostly hes a douche.

Aeneas Williams is interesting. Playing in an era with Woodson and Deion hurts him badly IMO. He was consistently a top 1-3 CB after they declined but was never elite or dominant like they were.

Haley is suffering from reputation just like Carter. The manic bi polar on the verge of killing a media member every other week guy is getting ignored. Key passrusher and component of two dynasties , 5 superbowl rings and one of the most disruptive OLB/DE youll ever see. Definitely a dominant elite player but like Aenas when you play during the LT/White/Smith era its hard to standout on performance alone.

Lynch is in no way a HOFer. Leroy Butler should be in twice before Lynch.
Shields wasnt as good as Allen but no human ever has been as good as Allen. He was as good as McDaniel but again...Allen will over shadow that.
Ogden is a shoe in. Pace not dominant enough , Boselli too short a career.

Strahan. Carters mouth may keep him out...Strahans mouth may get him in. I really have to look hard again to see what I think of his career.

Sapp is a shoe in. Didnt "change" anything as the league already had dominant Tackles including a better one playing the same position in same defense by the same coach in John Randle. So the whole redefined anything argument is paltry.Since Randle is in ...Ill be ok with Sapps induction.
Bryant Young was a force and a dominant tackle during short stretches. But he was a tier below Randle/Sapp/Kennedy.

The fact Sabol wasnt already in was a crime. If he doesnt get inducted burn the place down cuz its useless.

One of my favorite fan signs of all time was sometime during a NO/ATL matchup ;Morten kicks another FG for ATL and a NO fan is shown with a sign "What were you snortin' when you didnt sign Morten"
Best reason to have a license.

The guys on this list who I think should be in at some point:

Phil Simms, Jerome Bettis, Roger Craig, Eddie George, Tim Brown, Cris Carter, Larry Allen, Jim Lachey, Jonathan Odgen, Will Shields, Charles Haley, Charles Mann, Warren Sapp, Michael Strahan, Sam Mills, Eric Allen, Aeneas Williams, Tom Flores, Jimmy Johnson, Don Coryell, Bill Parcells, Steve Sabol.

This Year: Cris Carter, Larry Allen, Warren Sapp, Michael Strahan, token old timer, Steve Sabol...

Brought this up on Ferrall's Show tonight. We talked about it for about 15 mins. If you want to hear a him discuss it, check out the replay on Howard 101 from 5-9AM EST. I know it's mad early, but I didn't really get going in the show until around what would be 7AM EST tomorrow, so check it out during your morning commute if you have Sirius XM.

Talk to Champ to find out how else to listen.

It's crazy for our generation (the mid 20's guys) to look at some of these guys and wonder why they aren't in and hope who is in...

but if I could pick 6...

Chris Carter, Ogden, Sapp, Tim Brown, Strahan, Sabol

You think with Art Modells death, they put him in this year?

I think Modell and Sabol will both have strong pushes this year for a HOF nod. Honestly, if Modell doesn't get in this year following his death, I don't know how he'd get in later.

Had a pretty interesting discussion with someone who worked with the Giants in recent years about Strahan. It's funny - the only thing that changed the perception of Strahan among the Giants and their fans is one stinking year. If he had retired one year earlier, he'd be lumped into the same class of asshole to them as Tiki Barber. They both had the same issues with running their mouths and complaining, especially under Coughlin.

Not to mention Strahan gets a big-time TV gig out of the deal while Tiki is struggling to find a job. Banging interns probably didn't help there.
