Only Skip Bayless would go cheap shot on someone like that... I was surprised he didn't call Mangini a snitch as well.

Stephen A Smith legitimately has tons of NBA sources, so he gets the scoopz, and when he had his old radio show, he would always book the big NBA newsmakers before anybody else, so he does have the right NBA connections. The players love him.

Aside from that, he's worthless. I remember one time he was ripping an NFL coach for not trying a game winning FG on third down, because he thought if the kicker missed, he could try again on fourth down. "Give him two shots at the thing! Un-ax-ept-a-bull."

      Sla-va-med-va-den-ko.

That's the thing about SAS... He does have good sources, and it is always good for him to be around so we can get the inside scoop quickly. What bothers me the most about him is the fact that nobody can have an opinion that is different from his. I get the whole debate schtick, but the fact that he will cut anybody off just to yell out "YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!" annoys the hell out of me.

Then the talk goes to football, and he acts like he still knows everything. lol

I dont see Adam Schefter coming into the studio talking about the NBA... stick to what you know (or what you dont in SAS's case)

But I don't think having Schefter give NBA commentary is that far-fetched, because thats what ESPN does. If you stick around long enough, eventually you will be used in every capacity. Chris Berman does baseball games. They let Stuart Scott do hockey highlights, and he was too stupid/lazy to ever learn the correct pronunciations of the hockey player names. Mike Golic talks about whatever on the Mike/Mike show.

I actually feel that's more Skip's personality than SAS. SAS has shown that, just like in that clip, that while he may have an opinion, his pales in comparison to those who's actually been in the fire (no matter the sport). Skip doesn't care who he's debating with, he think he knows it all and always claims to 'believe what his eyes are telling him' regardless if there is a SME in the studio with him or not

Yeah, and I don't really understand it, because I doubt there is a shortage of people to provide sports commentary. There are a ton of ex-players, coaches, sportswriters, etc. who could step in at ESPN. And if ESPN can let people like Tony Kornheiser and Shelley Smith be on TV, then you know ugliness/beauty is a nonfactor, too.

Skip is pure entertainment. It works for him...and his show.

I wonder they ever thought about having Brad Daugherty do the NBA?

why are you trying to talk logically about something that is premeditated by a network?

ESPN told Skip to do what he does. He is playing a part that ESPN wants him to play.

Thats how ESPN counters the trashy talk shows on in the afternoon to get those dumb viewers. Its about entertainment and thats what he provides.

You were dumb enough to start a thread about it, so its obviously doing what it was ment to do.

I thought I read something once that Daugherty doesn't really like the NBA all that much. I could be wrong. I do know that obviously racing is his first love.

Was interesting to watch when Cuban went off on Bayless. SAS knew enough to just sit there, and Skip tried to get him to comment a couple times, and he just kept his mouth shut.
