Former LSU CB Tyrann Mathieu Received Benefits From A Night Club

    Rotoworld

A Sports Illustrated cover story reports that former LSU CB Tyrann Mathieu received benefits from a night club that could jeopardize his future eligibility.

"Since last January, Mathieu has allowed his image to be used on a flyer promoting an event at a local night club, appeared in several promotional videos online and... received benefits at the club that could affect his eligibility," the story reads. It is widely known that Mathieu is working towards rejoining the LSU football program, re-enrolling in classes after a four week rehab stay, and head coach Les Miles recently said he expects a "happy ending" regarding the two. The junior is obviously trying to make a positive change, but prior missteps may make it all for naught if eligibility cannot be achieved.

I didn't know you had to re-enroll in classes to rejoin the LSU football team...I thought you kinda just showed up for practice.

He needs to just declare for the draft already.. He might not go at all and even have to wait for the supplemental to be picked, but there's no way I can see him being allowed to play college ball again.

Things are shaping up nicely for the Bengals to make their run on this kid late in the draft

That is a dumb sentence and incredibly wrong. Here's a question. How many TDs did he allow last year?

He is not a cornerback at the next level. He is a safety cause of his ball skills.

You do know their is a difference between having good ball skills and cover skills.

Elite playmaker not an elite corner.

Have you seen the Bengals corners? After Leon Hall we have fucking Pacman Jones and Terrence Newman. I'd take the Honey Badger over those two guys ANY DAY.

This kid has been given so many chances because of his rough past, but has thrown every single one away. I'm not a fan, personally, but he is fun to watch play. For those who may not have read about his past: http://espn.go.com/college-football/...-espn-magazine

This is a non-story. Essentially what happened was SI was working on a story about Tyrann Mathieu, but he didn't want to speak. Then members of his family declined to speak too.

But hey, gotta have a cover story right? So ... you get two paragraphs of "reporting" and the rest is re-hashing the rest of the stuff we already knew. His eligibility is not in jeopardy due to these club flyers, just like Anthony Johnson who also appeared on the flyers, did not have his eligibility jeopardized. Johnson played for LSU on Saturday and will play for LSU next Saturday. There is no evidence anywhere that suggests Mathieu's eligibility to return could be threatened.

Epic reach-job by a desperate writer, who wrote a cover story without even speaking to the subject of the story. By the way, hugely awesome and not at all hypocritical of Sports Illustrated to raise issue with a college athlete's likeness being used to promote something, while plastering said athlete's picture on their own front page, with the implicit goal of ... gasp ... selling magazines ...

Here is some good reading on how dumb of a "story" this is:
