Remember when Manny Diaz and Mario Cristobal were the hottest coaching names in CFB?

In his first year as the defensive coordinator at Texas, Diaz's Longhorn D is ranked 105th in total yards per game, just ahead of UMass and Tulane. That is lower than every other program in Texas, including Texas St. and North Texas.

Meanwhile, Cristobal has FIU sitting pretty at 1-7 and 0-4 in the Sun Belt.

That's a crazy fall from grace.

    Sincerely,

lol @ hottest coaches. yeah coaches are great when working for a 6 star school like Texas. CFB is a joke when it comes to coaching. its not about being a gameday coach its about selling your team in the off season

as for diaz...obviously they need to find someone else to sell them

Thank God Mario Cristobal chose to not join Rutgers. Who knows where we'd be if we didn't have Flood coaching our current squad.

Texas' defense has been terrible for years, though. I have no idea why...there is really no excuse.

Although he wasn't a hot coaching name, I heard that Toledo gave their 2011 HC Todd Boeckman a sterling recommendation to Illinois, just so they could get rid of Boeckman because none of the assistant coaches at Toledo could stand him. Unfortunately, Illinois took the bait and hired Boeckman, who has been a trainwreck from Day 1.
