Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is looking over his shoulder, and he's not being chased by defenders.

Coach Andy Reid said he would assess his quarterbacks before determining his starter moving forward.

The Eagles fell to 3-4 on the season with a 30-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

"I'll go back and look at everything," Reid said after the game when asked whether he'd change quarterbacks. "I'm not going to sit here and make decisions right now. I'm going to go back and look at it and analyze it."

Vick entered the game with 13 of the Eagles' league-high 17 turnovers -- eight interceptions and five lost fumbles -- but he avoided giving the ball away against Atlanta. He completed 21 of 35 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown.

Asked specifically to rate Vick's performance, Reid said, "I'll take a look at the tape. There were some things he could do better."

Vick responded, "Whatever decision coach makes, I support it. The thing I know is that I'm giving it everything I got out there when I step on the field. Deep down, as long as I know I'm doing that and I'm giving it everything, then it's all I can ask out of myself. No more, no less."

For the season, Vick has completed 157 of 266 passes (59 percent) for 1,823 yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions.

The Eagles' backup quarterbacks are Nick Foles, a rookie out of the University of Arizona, and sixth-year veteran Trent Edwards. Neither has thrown a pass this season.

Edwards hasn't played in an NFL game since 2010, when he started two games for the Buffalo Bills and one for the Jacksonville Jaguars. From 2007-10, he played 34 games and made 32 starts for the Bills. For his career, he is 14-19 as a starter. He's completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 6,019 yards, and he's thrown 26 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions.

I liked a line from a Philly sportswriter today.

They dropped the old co-ordinator so the D wouldn't choke in the 4th quarter. With the new co-ordinator, they did that in the 1st quarter.

At the end of the day, the problems are: A) A brutally bad O-Line that makes Vick skittish; B) Safeties who shouldn't be starting ... or even backups; C) Playcalling on both sides of the ball.

You give Vick a 2010 O-Line, he'll be fine. You give Asomaugha two NFL safeties, who knows how he actually turns out. As for the playcalling, Reid has simply gotta quit calling the plays on offence ... and they gotta dump that stupid wide 9 and four-man rush which clearly don't work.

Both the Eagles' safeties suck big time. Poor Asomugha ... every time he expects safety support, they're talking to cheerleaders or covering left guards.

The Eagles' safeties make Asomugha miss Oakland's safeties. That's saying something.

You make it sound as if we are talking about Tebow or something. Vick at the very least is a serviceable QB.....a team could do much worse.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells Profootballtalk.com that Eagles coach Andy Reid has been considering benching Michael Vick since the halfway point of last season.

The Eagles started last season 3-6, and Reid was reportedly "hoping" Vince Young would play well enough to supplant Vick as the starter. Young didn't come close to meeting Reid's expectations, of course, so he was forced to turn back to Vick. Per PFT's Mike Florio, it's becoming a "foregone conclusion" that Vick won't be back with Philadelphia in 2013 at his $15.5 million salary. It's expected that the Eagles will release Vick "right after the Super Bowl."

The team will resume practice Thursday for Monday night's game against the Saints in New Orleans. The Eagles are off Wednesday and Reid and Vick are not scheduled to address the media again until Thursday.

Vick, the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback, has struggled this season and Philadelphia (3-4) has lost three straight.
Reid didn't endorse Vick after Sunday's 30-17 loss to Atlanta, saying he was going to evaluate all of his starters. Vick said after the game he would support whatever decision Reid made.

That led to speculation Vick's days were numbered. But for now, Reid is sticking with Vick over unproven rookie Nick Foles.

Reid has changed his mind on his starting quarterbacks in a 24-hour period before, reversing his call on Kevin Kolb and replacing him with Vick in 2010. It's unlikely he would do it again, however, and give Foles his first NFL snap on the road against New Orleans (2-5) in a Monday night game.

Foles, a third-round pick out of Arizona, had an outstanding preseason. However, he did so playing against backups, third-stringers and players who didn't make a roster. Foles impressed coaches and teammates, and fans have been calling since Week 1 for him to start.

Vick led Philadelphia to comeback wins with go-ahead touchdowns on the final drive in the first two games of the season. But he's been inconsistent and turnover-prone overall. Vick has just a 78.6 passer rating, his lowest since joining the Eagles in 2009. He's coming off a rare turnover-free performance after throwing eight interceptions and losing five fumbles in the first six games.

Guessing he is the starter on a week to week basis, then. The Eagles are a mess this season, and I'm guessing it's pretty much cut and dry for Reid to be fired at seasons end. His best chance to save his job is to go with Foles now and hopefully pull out a .500 record the rest of the way with him.
