    Geno Smith ... I don't get it

Mel Kiper has this guy as the #15 pick in the NFL draft. Those numbers and his physical stature make me wonder wtf he is thinking.

I don't profess for a second to be a college football guru, so maybe one of you gurus can tell me why a guy with those numbers, athleticism and NFL size is anything but a #1 or #2 pick.

If I'm Kansas City, no hesistation.

Man, he surely must be the first college QB to have great stats that people aren't high on in the draft.

Was kinda hoping for a serious answer, Seth. Seriously.
I'm not a big college guy. I don't get why Geno Smith isn't seen as a franchise player.

That IS a serious answer. A ton of college players rack up great stats. You clearly haven't WATCHED Smith, so what are you looking for here? A better analysis of useless numbers?

You don't have to be into college football to know that there are a lot of guys that put up great numbers that wouldn't necessarily be great in the NFL.

GBNReport has him their #1 pick

NFLDraftCountdown's last update (October) had him the #2 pick behind Barkley.

@ram29jackson - Carolina interviewed Cam Newton and he seemed like Carlton from The Fresh Prince ... now, suddenly, he's a character from The Wire.

Honestly, not sure if the interview is the be-all, end-all.

You should see Kaepernick's college numbers. 49ers picked him up in the 2nd round.

Honestly.. He'll be in the mix for #1 overall after the workouts. Especially if a QB needy team like the Chiefs get the pick. This list isn't taking into account that teams are always going to go after the top QB in the class when they have the chance and the need at #1. I think it's just ranking him in terms of talent when compared with the other players in the draft regardless of position.

I worry about what he's able to do outside of Holgerson's system without guys like Tavon Austin helping him out at times and I still think he's a little slight for the position which could lead to injury down the road.

That said, he's the clear-cut #1 QB in the draft right now as far as I'm concerned.

It's not his mock draft, it's his overall ranking of the guy. Kiper may have him ranked 15th overall out of EVERY prospect, but due to need, he will probably have him going higher than that in the draft.
