He's been coaching that way all season. Sanctions or not, there is no reason this USC team finished 7-5 and is staring 7-6 in the face when Barkley won't suit up for whatever second-rate bowl they wind up at (looking like the Sun Bowl)

I found Kiffin's arrogance to be amusing at times, mainly against teams like Hawaii and Syracuse, but when push came to shove against even the middle of the road Pac-12 teams.. Kiffin was constantly outcoached and his team was unprepared.

Lane Kiffin will never lead this school to a championship. He may not even get them to the BCS.

He's an douchebag and a dumbass. I hope he coaches them for another 40 years.

        Fuck USC.

You just don't return from that kind of collapse.
Didn't know that Arizona ever really had any national prominence. I thought even back then ASU was the better AZ program. I remember Tedy Bruschi on those Desert Swarm defenses, but thats about it.

I believe Ole Miss was the very last major program to integrate, and they still have a racist stigma attached to their team. As Bear Bryant's Alabama teams found out...its harder to compete outside the lilly-white SEC of the 1960's.

I think 2013 and beyond is when the job for O'Brien gets really difficult. They lose a LOT of talent on defense this year. Also lose McGloin.
Yeah, I expected about 7-5 or 8-4, but I didn't see those happening after the 0-2 start.

McGloin only had two big WTF throws this year (in comparison to at least 20 over the past two seasons) but both of them were game-changers with a pick six against Ohio State to start off the second half and a near pick six against Nebraska that was returned to the 4-yard-line. Both throws were thrown right into the defender's chest. BOB did an incredible job with him this year, but he's still nothing more than a mediocre signal-caller at the very best.

I don't think the loss of McGloin will be that tough. The coaching staff likes Steven Bench a lot and 5-star Christian Hackenberg will be coming in, so there's two guys with more talent than McGloin has ever had. Obviously they won't find success in the system right off the bat, but they're better fits and will show it in the long run. If guys like Allen Robinson and Bill Belton stay, then the offense should be fine.

I'm more worried about the defensive side of the ball. Lot of talent leaves (although Mauti might petition for a sixth year, don't think he'll get it however), but there were a lot of young guys that came in and played well when given the opportunity. I'm afraid Ted Roof will remember he's Ted Roof though.

I don't think 2013 will be a bad year and the next two after will be even tougher as the depth/talent variables decrease, but the future doesn't seem to look as bad as it once did - as long as O'Brien stays. If he leaves, then everyone leaves.

Replacing the upperclassmen with equally solid (not great, but solid) players, is going to be difficult. Even in recruiting right now, they just aren't getting those kind of players.
