49ers signed ILB Navorro Bowman to a five-year, $45.25 million extension, including $25.5 million in guarantees.
Bowman was due to hit free agency after the 2013 season. One half of the most dominant inside linebacker duo in the NFL, Bowman has emerged as a premier run defender over the past two years. The 2010 third-rounder was rewarded with an All-Pro selection last season and is well on his way to a Pro Bowl spot this year. Bowman has racked up 100 tackles, two sacks, five passes defensed, and an interception through 11 games. All four starting linebackers for the 49ers are now locked up through 2015.
