Gruden could get share of Browns to coach Vols

Here's one you don't hear every day. Or at least this twist on it.

The notion of Jon Gruden being a possible coach at the University of Tennessee is talked about every day in the Volunteer State and will be until Gruden or someone else is the Vols coach.

But a report from WREG-TV Channel 3 has taken the Gruden talk to an entirely new level. The report says Gruden has an offer in hand from UT to coach that includes an ownership stake in the Cleveland Browns. The connection there is that new Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is a big Tennessee booster, who wields a huge stick in the athletic program, even after taking on his new endeavor as an NFL owner.

The report says that Gruden, now a Monday Night Football analyst for ESPN, might have to work around some money he is still receiving from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and there will probably be some NCAA rules that might be affected.

Of course, this begs the question of, why wouldn't Haslam want Gruden to coach his Browns, who at 3-8 might be coach shopping this off-season as well.

The Browns will hire Andy Reid to be their coach.

In all honestly, Gruden seems like he'd be a better college coach as he's still interested in teaching aspects of the game. There is no teaching at the pro level.
