Ga Tech to the Big 10?

Just a day after the NCAA approved Georgia Tech's waiver to become a bowl team even if they finish 6-7, a report from an ACC writer indicates more Big Ten tectonic shift may be on the way.

And with this move...the BCS should just give up the ghost. All this does is decimate an already weak ACC so soon after basically making the Big East a joke.

When the ratings for that totally awesome UF/Kent State Sugar Bowl or the really good FSU/Louisville Orange Bowl come in, maybe then the NCAA ADs and BCS "officials" will see what a joke their system truly has become.

The guy backed off the story. Wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being true.

        Shit is gonna get cray.

Atlas, I know you've run through it before..but what is the Big 12's predicted moves?

they are gonna wait til the dust settles, but likely FSU/clemson for sure, and then some combo of Louisville, Miami, UVA, UNC, Wake or pretty much w/e schools the b1g and sec don't want... there is also talk KU might leave for the b1g (which is unlikely considering the GOR they signed), but its all pretty much a crapshoot til UMD and the ACC settle on the payout...

Where do you see ND ending up in all this? Big 12? Indy? Etc

they will stay indy as long as they can, but there is also talk of PSU losing its accreditation or something of the sort and having the B1G add a 17th school just in case... but if they do join a conference, it will likely be B1G or B12...

When will Big East give up football and give the name to the catholic seven for basketball use?

You're gonna have to take that up with founding members Memphis, ECU and Tulane.

That was kind of my feeling. I really feel like ND is really dogmatically opposed to joining the B1G. If the schools fall the way you say above I think ND jumps into the Big12 at some point. So much is up in the air right now I don't even know if ND will have to join a conference(at least in football). I can somewhat see a scenario where they might have to but I can also see them staying Indy football wise and figuring out a home or homes for their other sports.

                    Really confusing/odd situation.

The basketball only conference is looking more and more likely IMO at this point.

Atlas, Is there a scenario you can see where ends up being able to stay Indy in football if we go to (4) 16-teams Super Conferences?

if ND can convince the power schools/shot callers in all 4 conferences to play a few teams from each conference, sure, but they would have to make a ton of concessions to do so... its unlikely, but not impossible...

I remember after Texas did that deal with ESPN, They (ESPN) were pretty much bragging how realignment was dead.
