This is a tragedy, and not just because it's a famous person, it's a tragedy because the topic is about a death. Instead of hoping for peace, it becomes an opportunity to showcase pride of ourselves. RIP to Javon Belcher and Kasandra Perkins. I really hope they are at peace now. I hope the family is able to move on and the little one is taken care of.

My biggest hope is that those of you on here that have posted, I hope you come to peace in your day to day life as well. I hope when the shit really hits the fan in your lives, which it will, that you find solace that brings you to your knees instead of escaping reality. Because one little prideful act, continues on into another one - and another - and it's a downward spiral. Every second of this life, is another chance to turn it around. It's inevitable, and I do not wish it on any of VSN. It's a message I just felt I needed to share.

I expect responses of memes followed by insults, apathetic responses, etc - that's fine - it just proves who's truly gone down that spiral; and all I will do is hope you find that solace in your life.
What an insufferable, sanctimonious prick this guy is.

You claim we are using this story to show off our "pride", yet you easily provided the most arrogant post in the thread.

You read the deadspin report yet? According to a friend, ol boy drank like a fish on the reg, and he and his girl had just been going through some issues. The head trauma plus whatever final slight he perceived from her sounds like the two straws that broke the camel's back here.

Maybe he found out she had been cheating on him for a long time and the baby he was in love with wasn't even his. Still no excuse for his actions but that'd fuck a guy up in the head

And we don't hear about all those other things to feel how tragic they are. We did hear about the Chiefs MLB and GF. How can I notice things I don't even know about?

I like how ESPN has 10,000 comments about this douche and only about 300 for the death of Rick Majerus. Unreal.

Bob Costas is taking a lot of heat for basically saying that all firearms should be illegal to own and that Javon and his girlfriend would still be alive if that were the case..what an idiot.

Good point by Costas. As we all know as soon as things become illegal they either cease to exist or become impossible to possess.

Not too much different imo than the "If guns were illegal how would I defend myself?!" argument. Both stupid.

Also to be (somewhat) fair, it should be no surprise Costas is coming off as retarded here..he was defending/citing a Jason Whitlock piece.

                          Haven't read the deadspin article.

I just figure, what I outlined, is par for the course.

Head trauma is key, but not the only cause...too many hits to the head, or, the wrong hit to the head, re-wires your brain, man. Couple the external shit that comes with being an athlete and just plain ol life...none of this stuff is making me act surprised.

The thing I don't understand about the head trauma argument is if that is the case then why doesn't it happen more often with football players, soldiers, boxers, etc? We do know these sort of incidents happen almost everyday, so why is it when an athlete does something like this we have to point to head trauma?

Because it's a contributing factor at the least.

Is it? This sort of thing happens almost everyday, but with those incidents we don't categorize them the same. The reason I take issues with how with football players we are so quick to justify an incident as it being caused by head trauma, which IMO gives the impression that the athlete is some how a victim. For incidents like Junior Seau's I can understand, because he was showing signs of long before he killed himself, but is this the case with Belcher?
