Notre Dame was fraud like I suspected.

Notre Dame's vaunted defense surrendered more yardage to Alabama than Western Carolina, Western Kentucky or Florida Atlantic did.

I'm not surprised by the offensive output by ND because I felt they needed to take a massive step forward to put a lot of points on Alabama, but goddamn was that Irish defense terrible. They easily missed more tackles in the championship game than all of the twelve previous games combined, and Alabama's offense was able to take advantage of ND's secondary.

Tough loss to swallow, but this season exceeded anyone's expectations for ND. Kelly still needs to do a lot of work to have the Irish take it to the next level.

Pretty clear Kelly didn't think he could run on Alabama, they missed more tackles than I even thought possible. For all the hype around the Jones vs Nix matchup, it was interesting to see Alabama basically leave Jones on Nix 1 on 1 and double the guard to the Kapron Lewis Moore or Shembo end. Nix actually did his job well, the defensive end spots got their poop pushed. Motta played maybe the worst game I have ever seen a DB play.

Oh well. Onward and forward. We'll be back and will continue to improve. Good job, good effort Bama.

Saban: “Notre Dame had a … sorta… statistical defense.”

what a bunch of BCS computer ranking bullpucky.

they rank ND number 1 even though most people knew Alabama was a superior team just to get people to buy into ND hype.

If this were like a 8 team playoff or something, I doubt ND gets past a second game.

really wish Oregon didnt blow it, I feel like the Ducks still would of played Alabama some how some way and ND would of been "snubbed", can't wait for the playoff system, even if it isn't enough teams involved IMO

The viewers would have been better off with Oregon vs. Alabama, but if it weren't for a tattoo scandal we would have gotten Notre Dame vs. Ohio State.

I think Bama would have destroyed Oregon, but at least it would have been a compelling matchup. This Bama-ND matchup did nothing for me. I gave ND about as much of a chance of winning as I did NIU against FSU. I'll be honest...I switched off the game pretty much right away, watched my DVR'd Downton Abbey Season 3 opener, then went back to the game to get the final score.

Not wanting to get into the SEC dominance/ND overrated angles, I will say that in general these BCS Championship games have all been pretty terrible from an aesthetic standpoint. One, since there is no playoff, there is no actual buildup. The matchup is set, and then we wait around forever, marking time until we finally get through the Ole Miss-Pitt and Arkansas State-Kent State games, and then the game is played. Two, the games themselves have all been snoozers and not very interesting matchups. It reminds me of those 1980's-90's NFC v. AFC Super Bowls. Like how Florida would be the Niners and Ohio State would be the Broncos going for their 3rd Super Bowl loss in a row...do we really need to see this?

In sum, college football desperately needs a playoff.

Random thought: AJ McCarron has been on more National Championship winning teams than he has losses as a starting quarterback

Without the scandal though, Urban Meyer isn't coaching us, so that might be questionable.

And without the scandal, Terrell Pryor might still be the QB at Ohio State, so an 8-4 finish would have been more likely.

Which would've been noteworthy, as it would've been equal to the amount of losses he had over his entire career.
