The Ravens activated the veteran linebacker from the injured reserve with a designation to return list on Wednesday, a procedural move that makes him eligible to play in the opening round of the playoffs next week against either the Bengals or Indianapolis Colts. Lewis was placed on the injured reserve with a designation to return. Under that designation, the team had to activate him because he returned to the practice field three weeks ago.

Yeah, they've got to activate him, but don't have Lewis play in a game that's meaningless for your club. I actually think they are better without Lewis on the field actually, as their defense was better with him not out there. It's still the playoffs, and Lewis' leadership is invaluable and he might do better now in his spot.
