        Reports are Gruden will NOT interview, he'll stick at ESPN.

        @MikeGarafolo
        Was told today he won't interview. RT @danpompei: Hearing Jon Gruden now is leaning hard to staying at ESPN, turning down coaching feelers.

          No current opening has a good QB in place and he probably hates the current draft crop

            the whole good QB aspect really bugs me. when did it become i wont coach unless i have a team thats already built? gruden took over dungys team....does that mean he cant build his own QB and team without taking over what someone else already built.

            sure gruden, cowher have earned that right. But its a real chicken shit move to say, im not gonna coach there cause i have to build that team.

            its what seperates the belecheck, lombardis, jimmy johnsons, don shulas from todays wanna be HOFers

              Yeah but a guy like Gruden doesn't want to end up back as the President of the FFCA in 3 years

                  Agreed. There's no leeway from the ownership or fanbase. It's win now or hit the road. Except in San Diego for some reason. They let Turner stay there like 4 years too long

                    Well these ex coaches with rings I believe really don't want to tarnish their legacy, or so it seems. To go along with that these ex coaches with rings will usually always be employed by some company so they can speak their mind about football.

                      I don't really think he's scared of it. He came into Oakland and TB both in bad QB situations. I think the guy is just content with the slowed down lifestyle. I mean, this is hardly the only time he's turned down a job. The NFL has had more "above average" QBs now than ever, and he's still kept his name out of serious talks of taking a job for years

                      I'm also tired of the "Dungy's team" BS. People make it out like Dungy's Bucs would have been back-to-back SB champs if not for missing a bus or something, when in actuality, they got their shit pushed in at the Vet the two years prior.

                          I hope Gruden lands a job (not Philadelphia). I want that ass-kissing aging Dennis the Menace off TV.

                            EDIT: Nevermind, I got my years in Washington confused with our terrible QB situations.

                              dungy couldnt get them to the promise land, but gruden did...with dungys team. they were dungys players, he drafted and signed the FA and built that team. gruden had nothing to do with building that team. to his credit though, he did win the SB with them

                                I hate hearing about "Dungy's team" as well. 22 new players were on that roster, that Gruden brought in, that won the Super Bowl. That was not Dungy's team.

                                41% roster turnover. That's not a piece here and there, that's a significant amount of turnover.

                                That's the biggest issue I have with the Dungy apostles. They have such a misguided perception of the man. Stand-up guy, good coach and knew how to be a good leader of men. His ability to evaluate talent was not all that great. He didn't draft the core of that team at all. Sam Wyche did. Dungy gets all the credit, when in fact, the only "cornerstone" he drafted was Ronde Barber. Other than that, Dungy was hit and miss on draft day. He was able to grab Brian Kelly and Al Singleton as well. Booger McFarland was a top-pick, but, he was hurt a lot and when he finally moved to the UT, other guys outplayed him (i.e. Chartric Darby & Ellis Wyms). Wyche drafted Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks and John Lynch. Additionally, it was Herm Edwards that went to Dungy and told him to move Lynch from Linebacker to Safety.

                                The reason the Bucs finally beat the Eagles is at the 4:35 mark. Sapp describes exactly was Gruden said and that is why the Bucs finally got over the hump. A competent coach makes a whole lot of difference. Basically, Dungy's crew couldn't recognize what Philly was doing OR they were not qualified to create a gameplan to overcome it. Gruden did.
