Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland will not be fired

"Black Monday" is off to a furious start in the AFC East with changes already made in Buffalo and New York. However, things are expected to stay quiet in Miami.

Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland is safe. Miami finished 7-9 this year but made progress under rookie head coach Joe Philbin. Most importantly, the Dolphins developed rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill this season.

Dolphins fans have been down on Ireland since last year. Miami is 13-19 the past two seasons under Ireland's leadership. However, the Dolphins have the potential to make a sizable jump in 2013.

The Dolphins have five draft picks in the first three rounds and plenty of cap space next year to be major players in free agency. It will be one of the biggest offseasons in recent memory for the Dolphins, and Ireland reportedly will be in charge of making those decisions.

Why would he be fired? 7-9 for that Dolphins team is pretty good. If they can get to 8-8 or better next year, that would be amazing.

Guy was under fire last season, people thought ownership should have shown him the door then. 7-9 for this club under a new head coach with a rookie QB was definitely good, but there was still a not so smart group out there saying he should go.

He drafted a KR with a top 10 pick and a second baseman with a 2nd rounder ...

Uhh, he wasn't here when we drafted Ginn, that was Cam Camerons brilliance. And Parcells chose White. Nevertheless, he gets another year because of how we did, we could have easily finished with ten wins if Dan Carpenter makes 3 more field goals.

With Long not being resigned and the Davis and Marshall trades, we have a lot of money and picks.

Stephen Ross has never felt that Jeff Ireland was a problem.
