Andy Reid close to deal with Chiefs

The Cardinals are apparently closing in on Andy Reid for HC and Tom Heckert as GM. I would be happy with Heckert as GM. He put a lot of talent on Cleveland's roster. Still cold on Reid because he seems to have same warts as Whisenhunt.

Honestly I think Reid going to Arizona is a great fit and might be the only thing able to salvage Kevin Kolb's career. Larry Fitzgerald might be little bit mad about Reid brining in that offense though

Yeah. Mikey B. said he's not ready to give up Kolb and still wants to see if he can become that franchise QB that they hope he would. I don't really see the point in keeping an expensive QB around that can't stay healthy, but whatevs. He looked better this year when he did play, so there's still hope.

One league source said he was “95 percent” certain former Eagles HC Andy Reid will wind up coaching the Cardinals.

Reid would look at recently fired Browns coach Pat Shurmur for a coordinator position. Reid is expected to pursue former offensive line coach/defensive coordinator Juan Castillo for his offensive line position and former Vikings head coach Brad Childress, Shurmur's coordinator in Cleveland, could also join the staff as a quarterback coach.
That's a nice looking staff so long as Castillo stays on the OL. Keep him as far from the defense as possible. I'm more interested in how they are going to handle the defensive side of the ball.

There are also murmurs that Heckert might not be coming to AZ after all.

It'd be fantastic if Horton actually did stick around, but he's a hot HC candidate right now (would've been hired in St. Louis last year if Fisher fell through) and if/when he gets a HC job he's probably going to take the entire defensive side with him.

Also, Reid might want his own guy at DC (because that was so successful for him ) and change to some bullshit 4-3 with a lame duck coordinator. This is the worst case scenario. I will rage if this happens.

Reid is a good look for that offense. He likes to pass and has good WR's and not much in the Backfield...so no waste there...

Latest says Reid & the Cards brass are playing chicken over what appears to be Reid's insistence that Heckert be brought on as GM.

Arizona would be a good fit for Reid, and Reid a good fit for them. A coach who could bring some legitimacy back to that club. Give him a season to work through the roster and whether or not Kolb is the right QB to lead this team in his system, though, and I would also allow him to bring in Heckert. He can assist finding the right players for Reid's system and they know how to co-exist, which is key for any coach/GM relationship where the coach has some personnel say.

Welp, all this has been a waste of time. He's going to the Chiefs instead.
