Updating an earlier item, free agent Tony Gonzalez has "informed the Falcons he's coming back," and is "working out a new deal now."
"After discussing it with my family and really, truly struggling with this decision, I informed the Falcons I would like to return for one more shot," Gonzalez told FOX's Jay Glazer. It's a coup for persistent GM Thomas Dimitroff, and takes a major need off Atlanta's shopping list. The Falcons could still search for Gonzo's eventual replacement in the draft, but probably not until the mid-to-late rounds. It might be unwise to expect Gonzalez to match his 93/930/8 line in 2013, but he returns as a locked-and-loaded TE1.

Falcons re-signed LT Sam Baker to a six-year contract.
Baker was one of the better left tackles left on a right tackle-heavy market, and Atlanta values him more than most teams do. Turning 28 in May, Baker is coming off his best season. He started all 16 games for just the second time in his five-year career, holding up well as Matt Ryan's blindside protector. Baker shouldn't come close to Will Beatty or Jermon Bushrod money ($7-plus million annually).

Free agent C Todd McClure is retiring from football.
The Falcons' starting center since 2000, McClure walks away with 195 career starts under his belt. McClure was still playing at a high level as recently as 2011, but fell back in 2012. He's probably getting out at the right time.
