Chargers signed CB Derek Cox, formerly of the Jaguars, to a four-year, $20 million contract.
The deal includes $10.25 million guaranteed. One of the better young cover corners in football, Cox signed with the Bolts before making a scheduled trip to New Orleans. He was drawing interest from all around the league. Cox has picked off four passes in three of his first four NFL campaigns, but has also missed three or more games each of the past three seasons. He should specialize in press coverage in DC John Pagano's system.

Chargers agreed to terms with OG Chad Rinehart, formerly of the Bills, on a one-year contract.
The deal is pending a physical. It's easy to connect the dots here. Rinehart, 28 in May, played under new Chargers' OL coach Joe D’Alessandris in Buffalo for the last three seasons. Rinehart is a fine backup with starting experience. He started 17 games in his three years in Buffalo.

Chargers agreed to terms with TE John Phillips, formerly of the Cowboys, on a three-year, $5.275 million contract.
Phillips is more of a pass catcher than a blocker, but has just 30 catches over 48 career games thanks to Jason Witten. He missed all of 2010 with a torn ACL. As a backup to Antonio Gates, Phillips won't make a fantasy impact in 2013.

Chargers agreed to terms with OT King Dunlap, formerly of the Eagles.
Dunlap is not the answer to the Chargers' blindside woes. He was routinely beaten as a pass protector while in Philadelphia, but he's much better depth than undrafted free agent Michael Harris provided in 2012.
