The New York Giants signed wide receiver Louis Murphy to a one-year deal Saturday, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com's Ohm Youngmisuk. The club also announced the signing of linebacker Dan Connor.
Connor's deal is also for one year, the source said.
"Being able to stay in the same division is great," Connor, who played for Dallas in 2012, said in a team release. "There are so many rivalries. It's a very competitive division to play in. I'm very excited to stay in it."
A source also confirmed that the Giants have agreed to a deal with tight end Brandon Myers. Tight end Martellus Bennett, who caught 55 passes last season, left the Giants for Chicago as a free agent earlier this week.
Murphy could give the Giants negotiating flexibility at wide receiver, since Domenik Hixon and Ramses Barden are both free agents. The team also has tendered Pro Bowl receiver Victor Cruz, a restricted free agent, with a first-round pick.
Murphy, 25, was a fourth-round pick out of the University of Florida in 2009. He has played for the Oakland Raiders and Carolina Panthers. His best season was 2010, when he caught 41 passes for 609 yards for the Raiders.
Acquiring Connor could mean free agent Chase Blackburn, who started at middle linebacker last season, won't return to the Giants.
