Meh. I don't mind it. We literally had less than 500k in salary cap space. This frees up some space while securing the ever volatile quarterback position.

Also, I don't care what McNabb has to say. He is obviously just being a HUGE hater who wanted attention. He didn't make a sound when Fitzpatrick or Matt Flynn got ridiculous contracts.

It probably still stings him a bit that Romo's playoff win came against his Eagles.

But did you really secure the QB position? This has a lot to do with the cap, but I was on here at the end of the season saying that Dallas should trade Romo and received some groans in the process. But you have a coach who is possibly a lame duck, who could be out if the team doesn't make the playoffs. Romo laid an egg in yet another big game against Washington, and there is still the perception he can't win the big game. Romo is also over 30, and guaranteeing him $55 million is a dumb decision.

I would have traded Romo to get extra picks, and drafted a developmental QB. Kyle Orton is a perfectly fine starter for this team, because the pieces are there to install a vertical passing offense. Or you let him play out the year, not turn around and hand him $55 million. It might be because I am a Redskins fan, but I can't see the positives going on here, it's only negatives.

The perception that he can't win the big game is bullshit. He has won big games and choked big games away but as long as he doesn't believe everything the media spews, it doesn't matter. That Redskin game was horrid and his interceptions were god awful but the defense allowed 200 yards on the ground. Romo also had a stretch of games where he was absolutely phenominal, but one bad game in week 17 erases those games from everyone's minds.

Also, Romo > Orton. Every. Single. Time.

The fact of the matter is that Romo is a damn good QB in a league where you need to have a good QB. The draft class isn't a good one for QBs, Romo is better than any other FA QB out there, and Orton sucks.

Is the contract bad? Yes. But that doesn't make it an awful move.

This move was needed - no matter what the number of the contract were. Dallas had $102k in cap room. This reduces Romo's cap number $5m this season and allows us to sign Justin Durant and Will Allen.

People can't wait to hop on Romo's lack of playoff success. I think Romo is a top QB in this league. A number of interceptions and poor play this season can be attributed to mental errors by the receiving corps. Hell, that 5 INT game against the Bears...3 of those INTs were directly on Dez Bryant, not Romo. He really only had, IMVHO, 2 bad games all last season. Against the Giants and the last game of the season against the Redskins.

Plus, like a number of other people have said, this is not a position that you can just take one player and replace him with another. This is the toughest position in the sport to fill. Especially with the evolution of the passing game, you need guys that can sling it. I think Romo is one of the top guys in the league and I wouldn't want to start over. I'm happy that he'll be around for several years to come.

Yeah, once they fucked over Gruden, I stopped supporting the organization all together. That fucking Judas Raheem Morris and the Glazers slit his throat.

I was without a team for three years, just watching red-zone and the Cowboys kinda grew on me and just started to root for them. Kind of an organic growth over the three previous years, then last year I just decided to go all out. Never "switched" teams before, but, I found it is possible. I have no interest in the Bucs anymore. At first, I was just pissed, now, I don't even care. I gotta say though, the new defensive staff has a "nostalgic" feel to it lol...

                      at all of you.

The main money to look at is guaranteed money.. the rest is fluff.

And I'm sorry if they let Romo go, who is replacing him? If you think this years QB class is bad wait until you see 2014's. Your projected top 3 QB's next season? Aaron Murray, Logan Thomas and AJ McCarron.

Romo has had his share of "LOL" moments, but the Cowboys failures should not all be placed on him. They had to keep this guy. I'm sorry.

You wanna talk about fighting with one hand behind your back...that's all Gruden did most of his time here. Then, when you find out how Morris got the job, you'd be completely blown away. I didn't stop supporting the Bucs and start looking for a new team. I just watched red-zone every week for three years, without a rooting interest other than FF. Over that time, I became a fan of Tony Romo and the Cowboys, likely due to my fantasy roster, but, once last season started, I realized I was rooting for them a lot and just started focusing on Dallas. Simple as that.

My two cents on the deal:

Would I have given Romo that much money? No. However, having said that, I don't know what else the Cowboys could have done. Franchise him? No. That would have cost $29 million dollars, or roughly one fourth of next year's salary cap. Trade him? I don't know many teams that would have wanted to pick up his contract. Let him walk in 2014? I don't think the Cowboys would have done that. First of all, who's out there? Second, the Cowboys have a fear of the unknown. They'd rather stick with a QB they know instead of a QB they don't know. Romo had all the leverage in this deal. Now, JJ has to do the right thing and draft some OLs next month in the draft to keep Tony vertical.

And, who cares about what Donovan McNabb has to say, anyway?
