    Belichick Denies Denver's Offer

    In an article printed today in the Boston Herald, mainly about Peppers, Belichick was asked abot the offer from Denver for Cassel, reported to be a 1st and a 3rd rounder. Here is what he said;

Belichick also talked about the Cassel deal, saying there were a “number of teams” they spoke with after the quarterback officially signed his franchise tender. Belichick wasn’t comfortable with the potential snags to a three-way deal and wanted to act quickly. He claimed Denver did not offer a first- and third-round pick for Cassel, as was reported.

“They never made that offer to me,” Belichick said.

He also called “ludicrous” opinions that shipping Cassel and Mike Vrabel to KC for a second-round pick was some sort of favor to Scott Pioli.

“Look, I have all the respect in the world for Scott and what he’s done,” he said. “I work for the Patriots. I have no loyalty to anybody or any team other than the Patriots.”
I think its funny that Cutler is all bent out of shape with this, if it turns out that there really weren't any significant talks about trading him, he will look like more of a bitch than he already does. Maybe thats why McDaniels isn't treating him with kid gloves? Because he has nothing to be pissed off about in the first place. If all athletes acted this way because thier names were rumored in trade talks, 80% of the NFL would be a laughing stock.

Thats not the point. If the media blew this up, which they always do, and Cutler has his panties in a bunch over nothing, he could have just thrown away a promising career in Denver. Odds are if BB wasn't going to entertain a 3 team deal in the first place, then no, there might possibly have been no offers from them? I just think Cutler is really acting like a 2 year old in this situation, which could possibly be for nothing.

I think its more like this:

Hi, I'm Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels was my understudy for a few years. Now he is head coach of his own team and is stuck in an immediate rough spot, which unfortunately is partly due to my teams name somewhere in the mix. I'll lie right now, like I have done many times in the past, to try and help him out of the pickle he is in with his QB he wanted to try and slyly dump.

I highly doubt BB will try to fix anything for him, McDaniels is on his own now, he made that decision for himself.

Of course not, he's a football god in the eyes of many of his peers. What's to care about? What the media think? The fans? LOL

I'll be interested to see if Tommy B can do his own press conferences next season, or whether Giselle will do them for him. By the comments she made about her new hubby, it's obvious she is the one with the balls in the relationship.

Belichick is a bad example of someone who cares about his reputation. I think that by him being more concerned of what happens on the field, and with his team is the reason why he is highly regarded by his peers and players alike. Meaning he could care less about what the media and fans think of him.

Belichick does what he does on purpose...

as long as professional football has been around, every head coach has done the same thing in looking professional for their games... then when the Pats started beating the crap out of everyone in their dynasty run, Belichick stops doing it and starts wearing the dingy sweater and the sweatpants, looking like a bum who the pats hired to stand on the sideline with a headset.

he doesn't do that because he only cares about football and ignores the media, he does it because he does care about the media, and if you think he doesn't care what other people think, explain why he ran up the score on everyone in 2007, broke records with his high powered offense, but was still throwing deep balls to Moss in the 4th quarter in week 17 against the Giants.

nah, not even you can do that.

all that aside however, Belichick is arguably the greatest coach to ever coach the game, and in the offseason I'm more inclined to admit that he probably IS the greatest football coach to ever live.

when the season starts however, my Colt side will take over, and I will simply say he is a POS human being... but for now he is ok.

Think about it though, why would you take a 2nd rounder over a 1st and a 3rd rounder? It just doesn't seem to make sense. And I'm not saying everything that comes out of BB mouth is gospel, i just find it interesting. Everything Cutler is pulling could be over nothing.

I didn't know responses could be labeled "typical" (as in, they have been common place for a long time) when the sarcasm implied just occurred less than a couple weeks ago......

P.S. For the millionth time, the correct phrase is "COULDN'T CARE LESS"

Why do Pats fans keep sticking up for McDaniels and trying to make Cutler look like an idiot, did not realize homerism extended that far. Clearly something happened, regardless of what BB says to the media.

Belichick may be a jerk, but he doesn't have to answer to anyone.
                            His record speaks for itself.

McDaniels has an offence, he needs a QB that fits that's offence. He's not building an offence around Cutler, he prefers ball control and smart offence.

You don't force a square peg into a round hole, didn't we all learn this when we were 2?

Jay Cutler has more talent than Matt Cassel (it seems, and before you got off on some rant about that...keep in mind it was a coin flip that kept Cassel on the bench at USC over Leinart, the guy still has talent or why else would he have been at USC, drafted by the Patriots and have NFL success right away?)

Anyways, Cutler is probably the bigger talent, but Cassel would run circles around him.....in that offence.
