Bucs Willing To Trade 1st & Pay $16m For Revis

    Rotoworld

Citing multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, Profootballtalk.com reports the Bucs are indeed willing to trade the Jets the No. 13 overall pick in exchange for Darrelle Revis.

To this point, the trade hangup was believed to be Bucs GM Mark Dominik's unwillingness to surrender pick No. 13. That's no longer the case. Tampa Bay appears to have placed the 13th pick on the table, but Jets GM John Idzik "wants a lot more," per PFT's sources. Yahoo's Jason Cole reported late Sunday that Dominik has offered the Jets first-, third-, and sixth-round picks for Revis and is open to paying him upwards of $16 million annually. This trade is clearly heating up as both sides continue to posture through the media.

If I was a Jets fan I would be pissed. John Idzik is pushing his luck with turning down an offer like that.

The Jets are just done for. If they were in another city, they would have been sold by now...lol.

His best years are past him and he's coming off a knee injury. The first pick alone is worth it turning down a 1st and 3rd is insanity. I love Revis still think he's elite but they have so many other issues.
Best reason to have a license.

If somebody offers a package like that for a CB in today's NFL, you have to take it. Especially a CB coming off a major knee injury. Bucs are crazy. Did they see how collecting "shutdown" CB's worked out for the Eagles? When will these teams learn?

The world champs started one of the worst corners in football (Cary Williams).

Corner is a pretty overrated position in the NFL. CFB is another story though.

Yup. Been pounding this narrative for a half decade.

I would never spend significant resources on CB's. Find them in the draft, let them walk when their rookie deals are up, rinse/repeat. And if somebody offers half of a draft for one, you take it.

Essentially the way the Giants brass has gone about it over the past decade or so. Matter of fact, only positions they really invest a ton of money is QB, WR (even then, they're about to give Nicks and (maybe?) Cruz deals), OL and DL. I guess you could mention safety because they did give Rolle a big FA deal, but that was a rare occurrence I think.

This is fucking retarded. The 13th ovr is enough SHould go without saying but whatever we decide to do, he better agree to a 5 year deal or so with a no bumfuckery clause in it.

Unless the corner is elite, it is a position I'm waiting later for. There is always too much talent along the lines in any given NFL Draft for me to waste a pick on anything other than QB, OL, DT, Pass Rush. When you pop down to #13, the Bucs are going to trade for Revis or just take a corner not named Milliner in the first...seems silly, especially when they'll have a ton of line talent to look at at that point.

Unlike most though...come Round 2 and 3, corners and linebackers, to me, have a ton of value. 100 tackle machines are 100 tackle machines and they are always available in that area. Solid rookie starting CBs, too, come in that range. Guards, too. You get first/early second round graded guards in the third round...that's winning.

Really wanted a 1st and a 2nd for him. I would be ok with this deal.

If the trade does go down, I'll root for Revis down in Tampa. Besides always having contract issues, he's been a class act and one of the best Jets in history.
