Does trading out of the first round ever benefit a team ?

I always thought it was silly to trade out of the first unless you were in the bottom 10 and were getting potential high firsts the next year.
Salary doesnt seem to be the issue anymore so Im wondering if off hand anyone can recall any teams recently that actually benefited from the "extra" picks for trading out of the first.
Best reason to have a license.

Baltimore usually trades out and lands players that were expected to go in the first round. (I.E. Courtney Upshaw)
