Bucs Trade LeGarrette Blount To Pats For Jeff Demps

    Rotoworld

Patriots acquired RB LeGarrette Blount from the Bucs in exchange for RB Jeff Demps and a seventh-round pick.

It's stunning Bucs GM Mark Dominik was able to get anything for the one-dimensional, talent-deficient Blount, though Demps has made football second fiddle to his track career. That was a no-go for Bill Belichick, but apparently not his pal Greg Schiano. Blount is little more than a veteran flier for a Pats team that's already four deep at running back, but they'll presumably see how he fares as a short-yardage hammer in camp. Like every other role Blount has tried to fill, he's not effective in short-yardage situations. He won't be guaranteed a roster spot.

What a strange report from rotoworld. Blount was good in 2010 and pretty solid 2011. I'm not going to knock him because Schiano decided to run their rookie RB into the ground and only give Blount 41 carries.

He's a solid back. He's not an every down guy; but it's the NFL... other than AP nobody really is.

LOL I remember that was the IMMEDIATE consensus reaction when Ocho Cinco signed with the Pats. Shit is so annoying.

I thought Talib did a lot to help that secondary down the strectch. And let's face it no one is going to bat 1.000 on these reclamation projects, but the Pats do a much better job than most. Look at what they did with guys like Randy Moss and Corey Dillion. Hell they got Dennard in the 7th round last year and he may have been the best rookie CB not named Janoris.

To say nothing of the castoffs like Wes Welker and Danny Woodhead the Pats have been able to make into solid contributors.

I remember watching some redzone last year and Blount was honestly terrible at the goalline. I couldn't understand it. He would hesitate and end up losing a yard or two. If he can be taught to just hit the hole, especially in goalline situations, he could easily be serviceable.

In 2011 there were a lot of games where Blount just stayed on the sideline for a lot of plays. Their defense gave up a lead and because he's not much of a passing down back he came out of the game. Sensational rookie season but he does seem extremely one-dimensional.

He's a brain dead idiot. My buddy played with him at Oregon and he said Blount never worked out or cared to really learn the offense. He could get away with it in college because he had the talent to.

My guess is he won't be able to learn the playbook and Belicheck will get tired of him fast, he'll end up in the dog house because he's just a complete moron, and the Pats will release him sooner rather than later.

There's no way you get on the field in New England if Tom Brady doesn't trust you.

I sat there and watched Schiano run him into a pretty toothless Broncos d-line four straight times from inside the two yard line last year and was shocked as someone who watched Blount run people over in college.

There's no Doug Martin in New England so maybe the chance to be the top back lights a fire in Lagarrette, if not he'll be out on the street by September.

He was horrible in spot duty in 2012

3 straight runs from the 1 yard line vs NO and he was stuffed. He doesnt hit the hole with much umphh for a man his size. Once he gets going he is tough to bring down but just a little contact before he gets to the second level stops him in his tracks.

Remember when New England signed Fat Albert Haynesworth and all of a sudden, he wasn't going to be a fat lazy fuck anymore?

                            Yeah, me neither.
