wrong ,wrong , wrong you are all wrong. The fact is.. as much as we all like the sexy high profile positions etc and wax on and on about tactics etc...the Kicker is and always has been the most important position. They still score the most points. And there is less of them then there are of QBs. It is a highly specialized position now. In the past it was the best or most versatile player on the field. Now,he Is the relief pitcher that has to succeed or else. Tebow and Sanchez would have been cut on day one if they were kickers.

Being honest, I'd say it is the DE/OLB position. If you can disrupt a passer without having the bring extra pressure, you can have a very successful defense. The Giants won Super Bowls on this idea, always getting pressure with their front four and not being forced to bring more rushers. The mere thought that Spags was considered a top tier DC and HC candidate is proof that a solid front four can make anyone, whether it is DBs, LBs, or DCs, look far better than they actually are.

Left tackle.
You can manufacture a pass rush but you cant manufacture blind side protection without hampering your offense. The wide usage of the 3-4 means that you don't need an Orlando Pace/Boselli level left tackle anymore but your LT better be the most consistent player on offense.

It used to be when all the best pass rushers were weakside DE that a premier LT was synonymous with success. Pace/Boselli/Ogden/Jones made QB like impacts on there OLines and no surprise all of them have been on SB teams or within earshot of a SB. That just isnt the case anymore. Some of the best LTs Ive seen often reside on "meh" teams and there doesnt seem to be any more correlation between SB teams and dominant Left Tackles. But like I said outside of QB no position on the field requires more consistency and whos dependability is more counted upon than a L.Tackle.

I said this in the draft thread but the more leniency coordinators give QBs in these wide open offenses the more important a good Center is. Ill take an elite playing Mangold or Saturday just as quickly as I would take a Tackle. Ive watched enough Dallas games to know just how quickly an entire gameplan and game can go heywire with lousy line calls or bad snaps.
