    NAHSTE takes over Cowherd's body...slams Alabama's schedule

ESPN Radio's Colin Cowherd went on a 7-plus-minute rant Tuesday on the Thundering Herd, defending the schedule that Notre Dame plays year in and year out, in light of Michigan coach Brady Hoke's comments one day earlier about the Irish "chickening out" of their series with the Wolverines.

Cowherd goes off at the end, saying he can name plenty of schools next year that play far easier schedules than the Irish.

Even two-time defending national champion Alabama.

"Give me Alabama's schedule next year, go look at Alabama's schedule right now. 'Oh, the great Alabama.' Let me see that then. And this is the great SEC, right? It's unbelievable. Let's read it right now for you, 2013, here's your tough schedule. Alabama, OK: At Texas A&M, tough as heck. Colorado State, Georgia State, at Kentucky, Tennessee's a mess, Chattanooga Mocs, Auburn's a mess -- that's a real toughie. They get LSU at home, They don't have to play Georgia — they don't have to play Georgia! Don't have to play Florida, don't have to play South Carolina. They've got three of the best teams in their conference and they're not on their schedule, and they face something called the Chattanooga Mocs?

"Six of those teams on that schedule are in the toilet. Their toughest game honestly is their second game of the year, Texas A&M. What do you know? They've got a bye before that, because Saban pretty much runs the conference. By the way they also face LSU, they get a bye before that. So they get a bye before each of their toughest games. Saban runs that conference. He does. He doesn't have to play Florida again, he doesn't have to play Georgia again, he doesn't have to play South Carolina again. Saban is running that conference.

"By the way, their bye? They could have lost three games last year. Any time they need a bye it just magically appears on the schedule."

lol NAHSTE and I aren't the only ones noticing. Bridge schedules are rigged. Would rather the 9 game conference schedule to stop this shit.

Didn't Alabama have a year where they played all their toughest games on the road with 6 of their in-conference foes coming off of byes the week before? This is a flaw with the stupid 6-1-1 schedule the SEC uses, it has nothing to do with Bama running the conference. It should be a 9 game conference schedule.

Actually, i think the SEC schedule maker is now an Alabama grad or former booster or something.

Not gonna get into this, but it has everything to do with that. When Mizzou and Texas A&M joined, the "bridge schedule" was literally concocted out of thin air, ripping up the old rotation, conveniently removing Georgia and Florida from Bama's schedule completely while mysteriously adding a trip to Athens to the LSU slate. (And of course LSU and Florida play every year, which I'm fine with and would never change, but it creates an undeniable disparity when the Gumps dodge either or all of the East powers). It's well documented at this point who created the schedule (Mark Womack, Alabama class of '82).

Unless the new rotation, set to be drafted next season, pits Florida or Georgia vs Bama (guessing it won't), the Tide will have gone the entire Obama administration without facing Georgia or Florida in the regular season.

Anyway, the schedule Alabama played in 2011 was an even bigger joke -- was literally LSU and the seven worst teams in the conference** -- and their two chief rivals had the worst seasons in program history respectively. But somehow the narrative was that they had "earned" their do-over with a grueling SEC schedule over an Okie State team which actually faced and beat more ranked teams.

Ah, told myself I wouldn't get into this again. Sorry to pile on, but in a sport where perception, reputation, politics and narrative factors so heavily into which teams have access to a championship, it's important we cast light on this bullshit at any opportunity.

** -- Edit - Re-reading this a few hours later, I can't let this factual error go. They also played a good Arkansas team. So, the 6 worst teams in the conference, Arkansas and LSU.

East division schedules during the two year "Bridge Schedule" era:

            LSU:
            2011: @Florida, South Carolina
            2012: @ Georgia, Florida

            Alabama:
            2011: @Tennessee, Mizzou
            2012: @Kentucky, Tennessee

Georgia and South Carolina were due up to play Alabama over these next two years in the original rotation.

                You guize are just haters.

But yeah thats fucked up how Bama runs an entire conference looks like Bama could make another easy run to the NC game. They'll most likely play another overhyped Notre Dame who'll spend most of its season playing garbage ACC teams.

This is actually incorrect - it's only applies to Georgia. Alabama did play Florida in 2010 and 2011.

Disgraceful on two fronts...one, that Alabama will have avoided the only good cross-divisional teams, and, two, that the Obama administration lasted so long.

This is why Nick Saban is sad when people call him Satan (http://espn.go.com/college-football/...devil-comments) .. judging by these schedules he's obviously closer to God.
