    Five questions for your team

NFL edition, I'll do mine for the Redskins.

1.) What's the status of RGIII? The Redskins have not had a quarterback with this much talent and potential in some time. He was ridiculously efficient last season, and was a threat as both a passer and runner. With the knee injury, the Redskins should scale him back some on the ground. While Kirk Cousins was a great story, and has a bright future in the NFL, the Redskins will be in trouble if they want to improve on last season without RGIII being 100%, or even able to start.

2.) How is the health of Pierre Garcon? Right behind RGIII, Garcon also needs to be healthy. When he played, the Redskins were 9-1, but he dealt with a plantar injury for most of the year. He did not have surgery to fix that issue this off-season, which could be a huge issue regardless of who is at quarterback. The talent level really drops off behind Garcon, and he needs to be healthy and have a big season.

3.) Who steps up in the secondary? The secondary was shaky to be nice last season. DeAngelo Hall was brought back, but I am not a fan. Brandon Meriweather was the best safety, but only played in about half a game. Even with an above average front seven, which will make huge gains with Adam Carriker and Brian Orakpo returning, the secondary has to step up. With Reed Doughty currently listed as a starter and DeAngelo Hall further up the depth chart than nickel corner, the Redskins have a way to go.

4.) How will the special teams be? New coach, no Lorenzo Alexander and new returners need to be decided, as Brandon Banks is gone after a subpar season. Kai Forbath could be the kicker the Redskins have searched for for over a decade, or he could be a flash in the pan and put the Redskins in search of yet another kicker.

5.) Will the offensive line hold up? In 2011, the Redskins started a simiar line to 2012, and had great results until injuries hit. Last year, the line avoided many injuries, Trent Williams stepped up his game and Kory Lichensteiger did as well. The Redskins were strapped to the cap, and had limited picks and did not really address the offensive line like many wanted. As with most zone-blocking units, they are much better as a whole than individually, but they have to stay healthy again with depth a concern.

    1) How can the defense improve?
In 2012, the Giants D finished 31st in yards allowed (miraculously 12th in points allowed), but did not bring in any substantial new additions upon first glance. Plus, they lost stalwarts like pass rush specialist Osi Umenyiora and safety Kenny Philips. #1 CB Corey Webster had his worst season in quite some time. Captain Justin Tuck played hurt and had his worst season as a pro, Marvin Austin still hasn't contributed entering his third season since being drafted in the 2nd round. Without Osi, the bulk of the pressure is back on the shoulders of Tuck and JPP (rookie Damontre Moore along with unheralded guys like Adrian Tracy, Adewale Ojomo, Justin Trattou will have an opportunity to earn a spot in the rotation to contribute). Notable acquisitions at LB include Aaron Curry and Dan Connor, so….not a whole lot invested there. Jacquian Williams, Keith Rivers, Spencer Paysinger, Mathias Kiwanuka and Mark Herzlich round out that group and must improve as a unit. In the secondary, they brought back CB Aaron Ross to play nickel and as insurance in case Terrell Thomas can never return to an effective player. Meanwhile, Webster is playing for his job while 2nd year player Jayron Hosely and 3rd year player Prince Amukamara look to earn the other starting gig. At safety, Rolle is another year older while Stevie Brown should become the other starter there and Will Hill could be the 3rd man with Tyler Sash, rookie Cooper Taylor and Ryan Mundy vying for a spot.

    2) Without Ahmad Bradshaw, can David Wilson take over?
Bradshaw was cut and Andre Brown is coming back from a season-ending knee injury. The starter will be 2nd year man David Wilson unless he has a shitty camp. As a rookie, it appeared he never earned the coaching staff's full fledged trust whether it was turnovers or his inability to pass protect for Eli. He must quell those concerns because the 1st round pick in 2012 has the opportunity to do big things if he can earn that starting spot.

    3) Will Hakeem Nicks' Looming Contract Issue Impact the Team?
Victor Cruz finally got paid and there's no reason to believe his production will fall off. Hakeem Nicks will become a free agent at season's end and is coming off his worst season since his rookie year. He's still the #1 weapon on the offense (biggest year in 2010 was 79 receptions for 1050 yards and 11 TD), so you figure as long as his health doesn't betray him again, he's going to be in intent on producing for a bigger deal than Cruz. Aside form them, there's still questions about who can emerge as the 3rd weapon with Domenik Hixon gone. Rueben Randle figures to be the most likely option. Jerrell Jernigan is on his last legs with the organization while DJRhude's favorite Ramses Barden was brought back. Others fill a cast of characters looking to make the team (Louis Murphy, Keith Carlos, Kevin Hardy, etc.).

    4) Is the Offensive Line in flux?
Only LT Will Beatty figures to be the one guy along the line without any questions heading into camp. C David Baas had elbow surgery, RG Chris Snee has a hip injury, LG Kevin Boothe is not 100% pencilled in just yet and RT is a completely wide open competition between first round pick Justin Pugh, vet David Diehl and back-up James Brewer. Snee in particular has seen his play struggle over the past two years due to injuries and Baas has fought through injuries ever since signing (he played well during the Giants most recent SB run).

    5) Who Will be the New Kicker?
Lawrence Tynes will always have a fond place in NYG history having been a member of the organization for six seasons and he delivered HUGE game winning kicks in both NFC Championship Games in 2007 and 2011. But, he's gone now. Vet Josh Brown and David Buehler (who only was place-kicker in Dallas for 1 real year) will compete for the job in camp.

Can they sack the QB at a more consistent rate?
Two years ago when they made the playoffs, they got constant pressure without ever having to blitz. Last year they failed badly. Cliff Avril and Vanden Bosch sucked and Suh and Fairly never got onto the field at the same-time enough to make a huge difference. This year both DTs are healthy and ready to go but the DEs are huge question marks. Willie YOung starts at one side where he was atrocious last year when filling in for Vanden Bosch, and rookie Ziggy Ansah had 4.5 sacks last year at BYU where he faced terrible competition. If they cant get pressure on the QB, our secondary will be just as bad as it was last year.

Will someone emerge across from Calvin Johnson?
Calvin Johnson had to do everything last year without any help. This year we did almost nothing to improve except hope that players can recover from injury. Nate Burleson was never anything better than good but hes coming off a broken leg. Ryan Broyles finally got a chance to play after Burleson got hurt and before we could even evaluate him, he had his second ACL tear in as many years. Both of them are question marks coming into this season and no depth behind them so I can only pray they are ready and good to go. Otherwise Pettigrew will be our #2 target, which is scary to think about.

Can Reggie Bush provide any threat to the defense as a runner?
The Lions running game has always been awful. I think we have had some talent there that never came to light because of injury. Last year, Mikel LeShoure might have been the worst running back of the year. He had no quickness or explosion to him and couldn't shed a tackle for his life. Hopefully Reggie Bush can come in and do well enough to at least make the defense think for a few second it could be a run because that's all we need. Defenses never have to worry about the run and if Bush can provide that, thats fine by me.

Will Riley Rieff be able to stand his ground?
Jaff Backus was our LT for as long as I was a fan. People fucking hated his guts but I always liked him. He wasn't an elite pass blocker but held his own. When he did get beat it was by the best DEs in the game and it just so happened that he was the one guy who kept getting his QB killed. Riley Reiff is a question mark that will have to earn it going up against the NFCs best in Mathews, peppers and Allen. If he struggles early on, the Lions season could be over before we even see it begin.

      Can they stay healthy?
In all of the reasons above, injury plays a big part. The Lions have no depth for the most part so any injury could be a huge blow to our team. The great teams can adjust to injuries but since we aren't even a good team, the injury bug has to avoid us if we are to succeed to any point this season.

            For the Eagles:

1.) Who is the QB going to be?

2.) Can the OL recover from all their injuries and stay healthy?

3.) Can the leftover players on defense make the switch to the 3-4 (or hybrid, whatever defense) successfully?

4.) can DeSean Jackson get back to making big plays and being a threat every time he touches the ball?

5.) How much will the defense improve from last year? (because they can't be any worse.)
