Brandon Lloyd doesn't want to play football?

Apparently Brandon Lloyd really doesn't want to play football this year.

Lloyd has been approached by at least six teams about a possibly playing in 2013 and has turned down each offer, according to ProFootballTalk. Among the teams that have approached Lloyd are the Patriots, Jets and 49ers.

Lloyd spent the 2012 season with Tom Brady and the Patriots, racking up 74 catches for 911 yards and four touchdowns. The 32-year-old receiver was cut by the Patriots in March, mainly because New England didn't want to pay him a $3 million roster bonus he would've been due in 2013.

Heading into Thursday's game against the Jets, the Patriots are hurting at receiver. Danny Amendola has been listed as doubtful for the game with a groin injury and 2012 second-round draft pick Aaron Dobson didn't play in Week 1 because of a hamstring injury.

Lloyd's 11-year career has included stints with six different teams, his most productive season came with Denver in 2010 when he ranked first in the NFL with 1,448 receiving yards.

If a Lloyd did come back this season, a team would have to pay him the 10-year veteran minimum of $940,000.

Never able to figure out Lloyd, but with the money that Washington paid him he should be good to go for life unless he spent it all

He's been in the league a long time so in theory he should have plenty of money. I wouldn't go back to NE either for the veteran minimum after they skirted around paying me $3M. At some point a man has to have some pride.

Pride and a dollar will get you a small coffee... at some places. Make money while you can, simple as that.

He needs to reunite with Orton somewhere. Their games were made for each other.

He's been around forever and has already made big money. New England cut him to avoid giving him $3M, and waited until after Week 1 when they could pay him a non-guaranteed veteran minimum base. Maybe if he was a third year guy or a dude who never made big money I could see eating that shit sandwich, but if that were me and I was half way decent with my money, i'd tell them to go fuck themselves too unless they were prepared to give me a $3M signing bonus on top of that league minimum. Money isn't everything, especially when you already have plenty of it. Sometimes you can't let people fuck you over like that.

With that said, it doesn't explain not signing with one of the other teams. Maybe he just feels like at this point in his life the daily grind just isn't worth it for what in his context is very little money.

Football is a lot of work and a hard sport to play. If you're not mentally and physically ready to endure a 16-20 week season, your heart isn't going to be in it and it'll show in your play.

My guess is he's just over it..at least for this season.

Lloyd has always had one of the best sets of hands in the NFL, just had some issues that were well-documented. It was a risk that didn't pay off. The others are pretty bad, Albert is the worst, followed by Sanders and probably Lloyd, as we also gave up the draft picks for him.

Yeah for a while Lloyd had some pretty bad problems with drops. Always seem to make highlight reel catches though

I say good for him. I have a feeling that the Pats tried to hustle him, and now this was his big F U to NE. But he actually liked not having to do football shit and just doesnt care anymore. Made some crazy ass catches, as much as a bum people say, he had some decent hands on him.
