"He did the best he could do considering the circumstances" - The Stache on Brad Ford

"We need to do a better job of moving him around" - The Stache on Tavon Austin

"We had intended to use Tavon (Austin) out of the backfield" - The Stache, on why Pead was inactive.

Austin actually started last week at HB against Dallas (only one carry though), but I do not recall him lining up at RB at all during the SF game. Granted, they completely abandoned the run pretty early on.

That shows how weak this teams running game is. A midget WR started one game at RB, and is ahead of Isaiah Pead on the depth chart at the HB position.

And...for posterity...some names that are out there in free agency for the Rams to pick up to help the running game.

Cedric Benson, Kahlil Bell, Delone Carter, Ryan Grant, Jamie Harper, Peyton Hillis, Kevin Smith, Ryan Torain, Michael Turner, Beanie Wells...

One or more of those guys can help...just saying.

Jamie Harper is the worst running back I've ever seen play for the Titans. He's 240 pounds with no moves and yet he runs like a scat back and avoids contact.

No matter how bad the Rams' RB situation is, Harper will never, ever be able to help them.

                They won't do anything.

They had all off season to address the problem. I understand they want to take a look at these younger backs, but it's obvious they stink. They should have brought a couple of those guys you list to camp, or grabbed the ones that got cut off the waiver wire, to push the younger guys or at least hoard on the roster as security blankets.

How's this for a confused roster.

Last week vs Dallas, Tavon Austin started at RB, and Isaiah Pead led the team in receptions.

They did that on 3rd and 1 and it was picked off and basically swung momentum completely in the 49ers direction.

they've got a great kicker at least and blew an opportunity for at least a 3 when that happened LOL

Agreed. They were moving the ball well on that drive then that whole.. not having a QB or RB thing surfaced again.

Bradford missing a wide open Pettis for an easy TD was big too. The Niners came out very flat on Thursday and with a team on a 2-game skid .. they could have put the foot on their throat early and instead let the Niners get settled and let Greg Roman realize they still have that Gore guy.

                          Sounds familiar here...

Bradford is looking like Sanchez out there...and i'm sure it's mostly Brian Schitty's fault. I'll also place blame on the Rams for not bringing in a veteran RB, because none of the current backs are the answer. Bradford needs a run game to be solid (Sanchez was too) and Bradford has some young WR's that he really can't count on quite yet out there. I still place the blame on shitty Schottenheimer who really did nothing to help Sanchez when he was with the Jets with his complicated offense which really isn't that great.

See, I didn't mind that call, and i'll tell you why.

I can't sit here and complain about Schottenheimer being ultra conservative, and then bitch when they're aggressive. That's not fair. Plus, what are the odds that you turn it over in that spot? I forget who the DB was, but he made a great diving play on the deflection to pick it off. You just have to tip your cap.

I get that most things are, but that play was really a victim of hindsight. If that falls harmlessly incomplete, they kick the FG on the next play and nobody ever remembers the previous call.

For all the talk of his complicated offense, it really isn't. Drags & slants, take no chances, never look deep, and the infamous 8 yard routes when you need 10. Vanilla running game with dives & pitch outs.

Of course it is. If he's not doing either at the right time and place, its fair to criticize him.
