Hmmmm, my thoughts exactly, and why I don't bet. Risk $1000 of my money on a slim chance to make $1000 more? Not worth the higher probability of me losing my $1000. $1000 extra in my life if I pull off "the win" is not that big of a fuck.

Most people aren't betting for a living. I bet with money I can afford to lose because I find it to be fun and it brings more excitement to some otherwise boring games. If you can't afford to lose $1000 you shouldn't be betting that amount.

The problem is, most people who bet that amount ARE the ones who can't afford to lose it.

Right. Which isn't the problem with betting, it's the problem with the fucking dolts who bet money they don't have.

i sometimes bet money during the playoffs thru the superbowl. not every year but sometimes. when i was younger, without kids and not married, it was definitely a different story. going to atlantic city, tracks, sports betting........still had fun but there were times .

matter of speaking, last years NFL playoffs was the 1st time i bet sports in 3 years?? had some fun, made a little money but thats all it was. collected my winnings after Superbowl and stopped.

For most people gambling is just like paying for any other entertainment product. You pay $50 or whatever - it makes the game more interesting and gives you something to talk about with friends on Monday.

Then again, if I was betting the $1000 that's being touted in this thread (which only pros and rich people are doing), then I'd be up $9000 right now. So yes, betting is dumb.

Key words "right now". If you are consistently able to be up 800% in your gambling efforts, then you should become a professional.....because that's not how gambling is designed to work, unless you're the House ;)
