Depends on your definition of doomed. If this lost season puts the team in a position to draft Clowney or Matthews, it could pay dividends down the road. Not sure if they will be that bad, but it's within the realm of possibility.

It's a yo-yo league, might as well start positioning yourself for the bounce back now.

Makes me sad for Tony Gonzalez. They should trade him to a playoff team.

A Falcons source tells the National Football Post's Jason Cole that Julio Jones (foot) "broke the screw that was put in his foot in his 2011 surgery."
We're not doctors, but it can't be good news that Jones' injury is (reportedly) related to the foot operation that clouded his pre-draft status in 2011. It would complicate any further surgery, and have the makings of a chronic issue. Jones is receiving a second opinion on Wednesday, where hopefully we'll learn more. Nothing will be for certain until/if Jones lands on injured reserve, but things are not looking good.

I've never heard of this happening. Sounds bad.

            Bone injuries > ligament injuries.

I like many thought this was the year the Falcons made it to a SB............it just reminds you that in the NFL nothing is guaranteed except Tebow getting another chance, the Patriots winning 10+ games and Peyton Manning being a machine.

The Falcons aren't a very well constructed team. They have stars and bums. Very little quality role players. When you start losing the stars and the bums are still bums, this will happen.

The Falcons need an A+ draft and free agency to bounce back.

Yeah they have stars but way too many holes for me to ever think they would make the Superbowl. That offensive line is complete garbage and I think their defense has plenty of holes as well.

There was enough talent to make up for the holes that existed coming into the season, no amount of talent is going to make up for the holes that have been created by injuries on both sides of the ball.
